Very dangerous if you're a chocoholic with a sweet tooth!
These are a great price from Amazon and taste wonderfully rich and chocolatey. The only problem is that if you're a chocoholic with a sweet tooth like I am, you will be tempted to snack on them like candy. You try to justify to yourself that they are so small and you'll just have a few chips and you have so many on hand so no harm -- but once you start, it's hard to stop! So before you know it, you may eat up a whole bag even before you've had a chance to bake a batch of cookies or brownies with them. This is what happened to me! So you've been warned. : )

Simply the best for Chocolate Chip Cookies
I'm rather a snob when it comes to my chocolate chip cookies. Many years ago I used the Nestle Toll House brand, but frankly I"m convinced they changed their recipe at some point because there isn't the same flavor as before. For awhile I used Trader Joe's Dutch processed chocolate chips with success and again, they stopped carrying those for an inferior product with less chocolate taste. Well I'm happy to report that these special dark hit you good and hard with delicious chocolate flavor. Enough so that I catch myself sneaking them out of the bag even when I'm not making cookies. The price is superb. Enjoy!

Super Fresh!
I love these dark chocolate chips and they frequently are out at my stores. So was delighted to find them on Amazon at a lower price. And after I made my chocolate pie the (Amazon) chips tasted much stronger in flavor so wonder if they are not fresher than the store bought ones. I will heed the warnings of ordering in the summer months. This is my recipefor chocolate pie really a tart.: Chocolate Tart 1 graham cracker crust 1 bag Hershey's dark choclate chips ( or regular chocolate chips) 1 and 1/4 cups of heavy cream. If you can get Costco's heavy creamMelt entire contents of 12 oz. Hershey's dark chocolate chips in microwave for 2 minutes. Remove and stir with whisk until all chocolate is melted. With whisk stir in cream at 1/4 cup to start and gradually incorporate all, whisking throughly until smooth. Pour into pie shell and then chill in fridge to set chocolate. It's best chilled over night but it can be served after 6 hours if you just can't wait (like me...LOL ) I have added chopped nuts to the pie, sprinkled white chocolate chips on top, but the best is just plain. Wow, it is good. To gild the lily serve with whipped cream or Dream Whip. The latter (Dream Whip) is a guilty junk food pleasure of mine reintroduced to my palate by a 6 yr. old granddaughter. She's in her first childhood while I'm of course in my dotage in the second childhood.

Hershey Dark Chocolate Chips
The bags of chocolate chips were melted together into a large block of chocolate. Cannot be used as chocolate chips in cookies. Unable to separate the melted chocolate chips.

Nice chips!
I liked the coffee chocolate chips better, but these are second best.

Arrived Cold and Delicious
I think it goes without saying that Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Chips are delicious. While they aren't my go to brand for dark chocolate, as grocery store prices continue to rise, they are an acceptable dark chocolate substitute. I'm not only thrilled that Amazon offers these at a reasonable price (or at least it was reasonable when I bought them), they arrived surrounded by cold packs! It was 100+ degrees outside when these were delivered, but thanks to smart packing these arrived in crisp condition. My only complaint is that one of the cold packs must have leaked or something because there was a strange sticky substance on a few of the bags. It wiped off easily so no harm done, but it was kind of gross. I would order again.

A Taste Test Is On The Horizon
I purchased these Hershey's Baking Chips after watching them taste tested on the television show: "America's Test Kitchen". The host of this show publishes THE BEST cooking magazine around, "Cook's Illustrated". On the show, they taste test different foods and the Hershey baking chocolate was the absolute winner..even over the fancy smancy imported baking chocolates. I was impressed by that! I had always only cooked with imported and much higher end brands of dark chocolate. I was really surprised by the taste test results! So, this is a work in progress since I have not. yet baked with the Hershey's chocolate myself. The jury is still out but I do trust "Cook's Illustrated", "America's Test Kitchen", and Christopher Kimball to guide me!

Versatile
There are so many things to do with chocolate chips besides making chocolate chip cookies. This was such a great value I'm really going to town. So far I made solid milk chocolate by melting a package and adding sweetened condensed milk and a little honey. Tonight I'm making chocolate covered graham crackers by melting a package and thinning it with coconut oil which also adds a nice subtle flavor that bumps right up against coconut flavor without reading "coconuts". Tomorrow it will be chocolate covered raisins...
