3yr to exp! Very nice storage food
Did not come with pop tops. Need a can opener and that’s fine. I think they last longer due to a better seal. Bought two cases. All expire 2/2028. We ate two can they tasted good quality was what you would expect from a mass produced food product.

Same tasty goodness
Hormel tamales have been around a long time. They’re tasty, the flavor doesn’t taste like they come from a can. For some reason they’re not carried in the supermarkets I shop in here in the pacific northwest. Hormel tamales bring me back to my childhood days in Mississippi.

Excellent purchase
Great purchase for food drives or neighborhood food pantries. Nice to have delivered in sealed plastic as opposed to buying loose cans from local grocery stores. Saves time & money overall. Always comes quickly with date code appropriate. Will now be purchasing same way for future donations. Makes life a little easier.

Good product
There are not many choices for canned tamales. I use these often so bought a carton instead of individual cans.

Good taste and texture
Taste almost like fresh tamales at my favorite Mexican restaurant

Expectation is the root of disappointment
I ordered this on a gamble alongside another Hormel staple of mine (Corned Beef Hash) to keep in the cupboard for when I need something with a bit more protein than usual to pad out with rice. I'm a big fan of canned foods for the sake of safety and consistency; You never cook canned food, you just reheat it, since everything inside is cooked during the canning process to kill any microorganisms. As fortunate as it is to know you likely won't get food poisoning from something in a can, there are drawbacks: Salt and consistency. Considering I pad almost everything with rice, whose greatest complement is salt, the former is never really an issue for me. The greatest disappointment with these tamales is that they are, simply, slimy. I never expected to be bothered by this, but the cornmeal sitting in chili sauce for god knows how long causes it to break down. There are papers wrapping the tamales, but no amount of cooking them within these papers will firm up the slimy cornmeal. The chili sauce is bland and unredemptive. So my final score is: It's food, and it's edible. It comes in a can; What did you expect?I don't see myself purchasing these again unless I find myself surviving in some kind of post-apocalyptic nightmare where these soggy tamales would grant me some kind of fond nostalgia for the Before Times.

Easy Shelf-stable Tamales to have on hand
I recently tried Hormel Beef Tamales and wanted to share my thoughts on this product. As someone who enjoys Mexican food and is always on the lookout for quick and convenient meal options, I was intrigued by this product. In terms of convenience, the tamales come in a can, making them an easy and portable option for on-the-go meals. The fact that they have a long shelf life also makes them a great option to have on hand in the pantry.Taste-wise, the tamales have a juicy and tender texture, with a savory beef filling that has a spicy and slightly sweet flavor. The texture is soft and slightly chewy, which I think will be appealing to those who enjoy Mexican cuisine. I also appreciate that the tamales are free from preservatives, which is a big plus for those who are mindful of what they put into their bodies. In terms of value, I think the price is reasonable for the number of tamales that come in each can. This product is an affordable option for those who want a quick and easy meal without breaking the bank.Overall, I would say that Hormel Beef Tamales are a decent option for those looking for a convenient and budget-friendly meal. I would recommend trying them if you are a fan of Mexican food and are looking for a quick and easy option. However, I would also note that they may not be the best choice for those who are looking for a more authentic tamale experience, as they do have a slightly different texture and flavor profile than traditional tamales.
