Kwikset 660 Deadbolt

Nice do it yourself project, I liked that I could use the same key for the door and it was easy to program.

Very inexpensive. Easy to install. Includes Smart Key which makes it easy to key-alike with other Smart Key locks (most of the newer Kwikset locks I have seen). I am intending to replace all of the locks in my house with Kwikset smartkey locks. Once I have installed the second one, I will report on the re-keying procedure. I used this lock with an August Smart Lock (version 3 -- not pro). It worked great with this lock. Note: I installed this as a new installation. I bought a Jig (Milwaukee) for the install. I recommend that over the paper template provided with the lock. If you are replacing an existing lock, installation should be a no-brainer. The lock adjusts easily for the different standard setbacks.

Easy to install and rekey without the headache

I got these because I use the smartkey system throughout my home. While these aren't the strongest locks (they are grade 3, the lowest), they are more than sufficient for deterrent. Please note these are NOT the same ones you get at the big box stores. Those are the grade 1 locks, which are a bit more expensive. Having just replaced some old locks, the Grade 3 lack some of the cylinder protection compared to the grade 1 that I replaced. These were very easy to install and I had 4 locks on two doors installed in under an hour. If you need a basic lock and aren't terribly concerned about needing super high security, then this model will work just fine for you. Please don't get me wrong, they aren't cheap locks by any means, they just aren't as heavy duty as the Grade 1 certified locks. I’d like to say it was cheap easy and simple. As a contractor I install a lot of knobs and deadbolts. Well this one wasn’t for just a plan Jane door. It was installed on my RV. I bought this lock to replace the one that was on the Rv. Yes I had to modify the way it was installed with a longer assembly. I also used brackets to help support it but everything works

I put it on the basement entrance in case I wanted to rent it out. Good quality lock. I would definitely recommend it

Very basic door bolt, easy to install and comes with some special tool so you can use previous keys on the lock. My main issues; the lock can be picked VERY EASILY, and I'm not a locksmith. After installing I noticed that the key would rattle in the chamber and the bolt opened very easily. If you have a key that will fit into the slot you can wiggle it around enough to open the bolt. Obviously that's a major issue for a door lock.

I purchased two of these. Be aware, the installation instructions do not come packaged with the lock but are accessed via a QR code printed directly on the box. The instructions are also not specific to this model. Even so, it’s very easy to eyeball and with just a screwdriver and a few screws I was done. Because I wanted to use the same key on both locks, I immediately rekeyed one of them and it was very easy. The rekeying tool is packaged with the lock.
