There is no comparison in supposedly fresh roasted beans bought at a shop, at least those that don't have a "Roasted on date" and what you get in actually roasting the beans yourself. So, batch size in this unit is just right for enough beans to brew good espresso over about one week period of time. Controls are simple and allow for enough control to get exactly what you desire in finished product. Cleaning is quite easy. It does an OK job of collecting and removing the chaff from the beans, you will still need to a bit remove chaff from cooled beans. It's a good little unit that does exactly what it is intended to do quickly and repeatably. The only down side I see is the burned smell that will stink up the house if you roast indoors without good air flow.
