A little scary for my 3 yr old
I hadn’t read this story in a long time … was reading this to my 3 yr old grandson and his eyes grew big when I read the father left them in the woods and never came back, so for my kiddo it was a little intense , but if your kids can handle it it’s a cute book and the illustrations are well done , will try again when he is older .

Read before you read it to your kid
I love the little classics books, but some of the stories miss the mark on being “little kid friendly”. Of course I know fairy tales are not all “friendly “ stories, but there are ways to leave certain aspects out or reframe it just a bit. This one went several pages into how the step mother doesn’t want the kids and forces the dad of the kids (multiple times) to take them to the Forrest and just leave them there. That scared My kid more than the witch. Just read first and see how you think your kid will do.

Again I love this company for their books for children and the affordable price point. Very easy to grow your children’s book collection as they grow. This was a cute little story to read with my daughter and a little trip down memory lane

Not my favourite rendition of the story. Great on all other accounts. Beautifully and colourful artwork. Well made, and has several other titles in the matching series.
