Colorful and detach well if using a quick release collar
I do believe they prevent our 5 rescues from getting the birds. But one cat, maybe two, know how to pull them off with the help of whatever they can find to hook onto. One time I found both the collar and deterrent way up in a tree. Collar on one limb and bird ‘flower’ on another. I like the fluorescent outer ring and go around at night to find the lost ones that get pulled off in a bush or tree. We ALWAYS use quick release collars. I hope they continue to make these and keep the price reasonable as I can only afford so much with 5 cats that must have in / out privileges to keep the peace.

This actually works!
My nine-year old cat is an avid hunter. She was bringing in a kill, or live bird almost every day. I originally purchased the giant bell for her collar from this company and it worked for four days. This collar has worked now for three weeks. No birds, lizards, or rats (dead or alive) in my house for THREE WEEKS!!! Whereas I used to tentatively walk into my kitchen every morning, steeling myself for some level of carnage requiring a cleanup crew, I can now start my mornings on a joyful note. I highly recommend this product. If you have a bell on your cat's collar that you want to keep, I recommend putting a small stitch on each end of the openings to keep the bell from sliding into the fabric tube. The tube is rather wide and presents some issues, but they're not insurmountable - and applying a couple of small stitches helps a lot.

This collar gave my cat superpowers!
My cat loves sitting outside watching the birds. He would occassionally chase one - but he never killed a bird or brought one inside. Truthfully, it was a bit comical watching him lumber around after the birds. But I felt bad for the birds, so I bought this collar to help the birds visualize him better. I was not prepared for what happened next. The first day with the collar, the cat caught and brought 7 birds into the house. He did not kill any of them, he gently brought them in and placed them at my feet. The second day he delivered 11 birds. The collar is well made and looks quite cute - but it in no way deterred my cat from catching birds - it actually empowered him!

Works so well.
My male cat became a capable hunter after one year of going outdoors during daylight hours. Since wearing this for 8 months, he has not caught one bird (though he did bring in a small rat once), and seems discouraged from trying. He adjusted quickly to wearing it, and though he has a thick mane, the birds seem to be spotting him. I bought three to cover losses, for washing, or in the event that his litter mate takes up hunting, but so far, she lacks the skill. An important step in addition to proper vaccines, flea/tick/parasite meds, and evaluating your neighborhood for traffic and wildlife to allow for a successful outdoor cat experience.

Works as advertised but the problems make it not worth the cost
Bird kills are way down, rodent kills also down. The reflective trim is a nice touch but that's about it for the pros. Make no mistake, you're basically paying for the science, not the product... For what these are—a thin tube of fabric—$10 is steep. Not even a safety collar that comes with the purchase? Then another $3.60 for shipping? Wow guys. I ordered two of these, thinking that if one got lost...sure enough, not a week later the cat came back without its collar. We found it, then it got lost again, permanently. $13.60 down the drain. So yeah, the next one will be a home-sewn job (for about 1/10th the cost). Most surprisingly, the fabric is not water-resistant; so the collar routinely comes back soaking wet. We have to remove it and dry it out each time. There are great sewing vids on Youtube...

I wanted this to work…..
Our cat is a birder and we thought this might help but it hasn’t. We started him with a collar with a bell. Well that didn’t work. we got three of these, which slip over his collar so he still has the sound of the bell. Two of them have been lost somewhere in the woods, along with the collars. The one he’s wearing now has lasted for over a month, but has not slowed down his hunt for birds and mice etc. We left his collar on because we think he looks so cute and he doesn’t seem to mind wearing it at all. BTW We have friends whose cat wears one and it has worked effectively for them . So it may not be the product as much as the cat

Awesome product!
Have had this almost a month now and no birds caught! Our cat was bringing in live birds 1-2 times per week. So this collar was a relief to find. Now the birds (and myself) have no problem spotting her from afar. The fabric is very good quality and my cat has no issue keeping it on. I only make her wear it when she is outside. One thing to check if your cat is outside a lot is that there are no foxtails or spike weeds stuck in the fabric. This has not been an issue but it’s good to monitor so the cat does not feel like they want to take it off due to discomfort. Would definitely recommend if birds are an issue.

It does work
A stray cat walked up to me, my daughter wanted to keep her. After bringing the cat back to health, I had noticed it was killing my birds outside. I was fuming. I have been feeding the birds and squirrels for many, many years and here comes this cat not trying to learn my yard as My other cats did in the past. I was ready to bring this cat to the shelter because I can't have something around that was going to kill my wildlife. I came across this collar. I told my daughter, im trying and this is the last idea I have. If this doesn't work then I have no other choice to bring her to the shelter. She has been wearing it for months because the collar works. Ever since the cat has been wearing it, I no longer find dead birds in the yard. Now we are all happy. The cat is happy that she gets to stay, my daughter is happy that she didn't loose the cat and I am happy to not find birds dead in the yard. As I said, I feed them. I appreciate my wildlife and I enjoy watching them. I bought a variety of these collars.

But our cat has figured out which part of the fence to crawl under so that the entire collar snaps off 🤣

Hi - i seldom if ever write reviews, but i am very pleased with results for this collar sleeve combined with clip together collar. If you are thinking to try something to save the birds, i think this is worth the risk. Based in lower South Island, NZ, one of our cats was killing 2-5 birds a day. It is a seasonal thing of course, depending on bird species, feed type, temp, etc. Since the collar - we put it on in the morning, take off in evening - there have been 2 kills total over approx 3 weeks. Super pleased. We are lucky cat is pretty relaxed about collar, no craziness. Absolutely worth the money in this instance.
