"Trust Nobody"
As a long term lover of crime thrillers, none of which would fall under the YA category, I felt a slight trepidation with this being my first venture into the world of crime as seen from a 17 year olds perspective.Finn Maguire's world is turned on its head when he arrives home to find his only constant family member has been murdered. A reasonably rough background gives him the wherewithal to deal with the after effects of the mess he is left to deal with on his own - something most adults wouldn't be able to cope with. Seen as more of a suspect than a victim by those who should be entrusted with looking after him in his grief, his subsequent descent into the grimy underworld of London crime to seek out the murderer is understandable. The consequences of his actions exceed the gravity of his own expectations with some unexpected twists and turns along the way.Crusher is a fine debut novel - It is fast paced & has a plot that will keep you riveted from start to finish. It has made me want to re-read my old favourite crime thrillers, as well as seeking out more in a similar genre(YA). I will look forward to reading more from this author. Also, given the current market trends of new books where it seems that everyone is writing about young people in a dystopian society killing each other for sport or supernatural beings coming out of the woodwork of every small town, I found Crusher to be a refreshing change from the very recent "norm".A definite thriller, with heart.

Crusher
I read many mystery books. This one has a different twist. Set in London, the protagonist is a teen who returns home from work to find his father murdered and himself the prime suspect. He sets about tracking the killer himself. Amidst the British culture, he chases about London for clues and, in the end, succeeds in finding out family secrets that shock him and the readers.. I recommend this book. It is amazing how someone so young and with no previous experience learns the truth about the murder and, in the process, learns about his family's past and changes his own formerly bleak future. The characters are well drawn. Fully entertained by this debut book.

A good first book
I enjoyed this book. It was fast paced, and a surprising ending. My only issue is that there was a few times that I needed to look up words in my kindle dictionary. I have trouble believing that a 17 yr old supposedly illiterate boy would think or use words such as lugubrious and incongruous.

Compelling story and characters
Loved this story. I was glued to my seat as I read - couldn't wait to find out more. The author did a great job creating characters I either wanted to read more about, or never meet in my life! Either way, they drew me in completely.

nice surprise
this was a pretty darn good mystery. i wasn't expecting much and just got it out of curiosity as to who on earth would be married to ELJames. Turns out he is a very respectable author and this was an entertaining book. thanks.

interesting
I bought this book because his wife is E.L James, of "Fifty Shades of Grey" fame. I figured I would give this new author a shot. I enjoyed it and look forward to more books by him in the future.

Brilliant
This is a brilliant read. I couldn't put it down. A young lad in a dead end job comes under suspicion when his step father is murdered. It is well written and portrays expertly the often negative thoughts and partially thought out steps taken by the teenager in pursuit of the truth.

Best thriller I've read in years!
This book popped up on my facebook page and although I rarely click on these, I'm so glad I did! I hadn't realised he was hubby of EL James until an hour after I'd purchased the book, when he (coincidentally) was being interviewed on RTE 2! I wondered if he had written a book because his wife had found fame but actually he has done some really good work already for TV.This book was an edge of your seat thriller, I couldn't put it down! From the start, he took the reader into Finn's world, very cleverly placing you inside his head. In some books I become irritated by things that are overlooked by the hero but in Niall's I didn't get time, he whipped me along on Finn's journey so fast!I'll leave others to describe the story, as I enjoy a book more when I haven't a clue what is coming next!Buy and enjoy....can't wait for the next one!
