This is very good CPU for its price. I upgraded my R3 1300x to R5 3500 and the performance difference is very noticeable. Currently I am using it on my MSI B450M PRO VDH (BIOS update required). Cinebench R20 Single Core : 466 Cinebench R20 Multi Core : 2544 I have paired it with my AMD RX 570 4GB and I would like to tell you about some games in which I have got Massive FPS boost after upgrading my Ryzen 3 1300X to Ryzen 5 3500 Gears 5 1080p Ultra settings From Avg. 37 to Avg. 56 Metro Exodus High Settings 1080p DX12 From avg. 36 to avg. 54 on every other game I play i got FPS boost of Avg. 10 FPS on every game. Temperatures on stock cooler is near 77 to 80 degree while gaming or rendering. So I recommend to buy any good cooler to keep your temperatures low. You can visit YouTube channel ( UCFPDAHt4wpkhGlfJlQiQq3g ) to see videos for Ryzen 5 3500 Benchmarks and gameplays Update 1: Played few Games on 1440p / High Settings (Ryzen 5 3500 + RX 570 4GB) Gears 5 (1440p High Settings) : AVG 50 FPS Metro Exodus (1440p High Settings) : AVG 46 FPS Devil May Cry 5 (1440p High Settings) : AVG 81 FPS Sniper Elite 4 (1440p High Settings) : AVG 65 FPS Wolfenstein Youngblood (1440p High Settings) : AVG 61 FPS World War Z (1440p High Settings) : AVG 62 FPS Update 2 Removed CPU Cooler (Cooler Master H410R). Reapplied the thermal paste again and installed the cooler again. Now Maximum Temperature under Load is 72 Degrees. Update 3 Geekbench 5 scores @4.2 ghz Single core : 1159 Multi core: 4663 Update 4 My Ryzen 5 3500 is totally stable at 4.2 GHz on All cores while gaming or Rendering. With some fan curve tweaks Temps also don't go above 75 Degree even under full load (Sometimes fan gets Loud). Its almost 15 days since I am using my Ryzen 5 3500 at 4.2 Ghz Update 5 CineBench R20 Scores @4.2 GHz Single Core : 484 Multi Core : 2778 Update 6 Tried Tencent Emulator to Play PUBG Mobile See Screenshots for details Update 7 I Overclocked my Ryzen 5 3500 to 4.3 GHz All Cores (Voltage set to Auto) without any problem Cinebench R20 @4.3 GHz Single Core : 493 Multi Core : 2806 At 4.4 GHz Cinebench R20 was crashing Again and Again but System was Stable I will try to Benchmark at 4.4 GHz and update here Update 8 Paired It with my New GTX 1650 Super Please CHeck the Screenshots for FPS Details of games I tested these games at 1080p resolution 1. Very good I recommend but upgrading from 4 core you will be a lil disappointed in cpu hungry games
Don't buy it if you're upgrading from a 4 core thinking it will solve your high usage problem and if you want to play cpu intensive games like assassin's creed then better go with 6 core 12 threads or even 8 cores but this processor is not enough for those otherwise processor is great and you will get high fps if paired with a good graphics card I was unable to enjoy kingdom come deliverance so upgraded to 3500 from 1300x and now I'm enjoying it Below are the fps I get with ryzen 3500+rx580oced (approx fps) 1. Gears 5 ultra settings - around 80 avg 2. A C origins low medium - 60+ but in cities around 45 3. Mafia 3 medium low - 60+ 4. Gta v very high everything - 78 avg 5. Kingdom come high+hd textures - 77 Will update more games Temperatures are fine in gaming but went upto 80° while stress test even using aftermarket air cooler It is using my graphics card to it's full potential but when more cpu power is required then less fps is delivered by it Upgrading from a 4 core ryzen my pc got faster in multitasking and no lag whatsoever It goes upto 4.1 ghz as described but not all cores Mine crashed after 3850mhz all cores by automatically overclocking easy tune app If you're considering it then buy it you won't regret even i don't regret but yes if there were more threads then I could play cpu hungry games easily My sole purpose of buying this processor was to play games like assassin's creed without compromising in performance or visuals but I'm compromising it and still not getting 60 fps constant My 4 core ryzen did the same thing so I upgraded but it is also same in this regard. Still a good processor and best in budget Definitely there's no other option other than this don't buy 1600 or 2600 if you have money buy 3600 or go with 3500 I recommend this cpu and it can be paired with good graphics to give you very good fps and only one or two unoptimized games will be difficult otherwise this cpu is very good and best in class.

Great
I brought this processor in March 2020 and I am writing this review on 29 June 2020. So I have used this processor for almost 3 months now. I paired it with RX560 4 GB GPU and 16 GB Ram. I can run all modern AAA games @50 fps and 1080p resolution easily. It can handle photoshop and premier pro easily. Rendering will take some time. But you will need a proper CPU case to keep the processor cool or you will need to buy aftermarket CPU cooler. My CPU case is not very good so I have to always keep the side panel open while gaming so CPU stays below 70° C . I am going to buy a cooler master cooler now and you should too to ensure long life of CPU.

Excellent processor but horrible stock fan
I purchased it in the mid of January 2021 and paired it with Asrock B450m Steel Legend motherboard, A-DATA XPG Gammix D10 3200 MHz RAM, Ant Esports ICE-300TG cabinet, Ant Esports VS500L PSU, Sapphire Rx 570 4GB graphics card, and Verbatim Vi3000 NVME M.2 ssd. System booted well and installed Win10 within few minutes. But after installing all other applications, while running GTA-V, the system shut it down itself without any warning. After few minutes, I started the system again and installed MSI Afterburner and again started playing GTA-V. I observed that the temperature was hitting over 80 degree C just after few seconds starting the game. As I am using Ant Esports ICE-300TG cabinet with 3 intake fans and 1 exhaust fan, I couldn't believe that the processor was hitting such a high temperature. Then I stopped the game and installed Cinebench R23 and got a multi processor score of 6725 with a temperature of 93 degree C max. Then I opened one side of the case and temperature went down to 83 degree C with multi processor score of 6792. After some research I found that the culprit is its Wraith Stealth stock fan. Then, I ordered Deep Cool Gammaxx V2 fan and after installing it, I got a Cinebench R23 score of 6913 with max temperature hovering around 62 degree C with case closed. The gaming performance of the processor is excellent. I haven't overclocked anything but have enabled XMP profile to run my RAM at 3200 MHz. The GPU is also working excellent and none of them are bottlenecking each other.

Good processor but...
Ryzen 3500 is a good offering from AMD. It performs well in gaming. However, AMD must improve the design of the socket and cooling solution. Stock cooler that comes with it is difficult to mount and install. It was my first time building a PC though. Need to be careful with this.
