Making Soap From Scratch: How to Make Handmade Soap - A Beginners Guide and Beyond Review: This was the book I actually USED. - Initially, I was disappointed when I received this book from desertcart. It was a short book with no pictures. Quite the opposite of the other 2 books on soaping that arrived with the same desertcart order. Frankly, after many batches of soap, checking and rechecking instructions, fragrance and essential oils, and base oil properties it turned out that this little book sported penciled in notes, dog eared corners and olive oil fingerprints. This was the book I actually USED. The recipes offered range from cost effective, simple and straight forward to more luxurious and complex. The clear, friendly, conversational tone and no nonsense and often comical delivery of information have made exploring soap making enjoyable and rewarding. In hindsight, I would have borrowed the colourful and expensive books from the library (I found online videos to be more helpful than the photos) and used those funds for essential oils, a better kitchen scale or a perhaps wooden soap mould. Review: Excellent book - I have wanted to learn to make my own soaps for a long time now. I started looking at books on my kindle fire about soap making and came across Gregory Lee White's book. After reading the introductory I decided to buy it. The book is wonderful if you are new to soap making. It is written in layman's term, and everything you ever wanted to know about soap making is in this book, including awesome recipes to make in small and large batches. The only thing I don't recommend is buying it on the Kindle Fire, because you can't have the recipes in front of you unless you turn your kindle fire on. If your right in the middle of doing soap and your kindle goes dead, your just out of luck. I have to re-type all the recipes, and any pertinent information that I need to keep in front of me, off of my kindle fire just so that I can use them. I just completed my first 15 Lb. batch of soap that I am real proud of. In the area where I live it is hard to find soap making lessons, so I had to rely on books and the internet. On my facebook page under "new wild rose products" you will find the soap I made using Gregory White's master batch recipes. I made oatmeal, milk and honey, Monkey Farts, and Lavender soap, This book is a wealth of information, and if you have any questions you can always email him and he will respond. facebook.com/wildrose.organics1 TY Wild Rose Organics

Easy Read
Hi Gregory, If u truly read all the reviews then u will read this one so I will practice my manners and say hello, its been a pleasure. I am relatively new to soaping but loved it at first try...it had me at hello if u know what I am saying! I love making my own anything if I can afford it and doing so affords me choices. I like that! So u r dieing to know what I liked about u book.... Simply put, I liked u writing. Simple, basic, cut to the chase, no frills. U didn't intimidate with "here is all u do with 25 ingredients and steps, swirl-a-rama for your mama with this particular mold and tool" recipe and for that i am greatful! For the first time I understand saponification and how that helps me design my own recipes. I also learned how to take any shape container and figure out how much soap it will hold. I prefer FO only because I can afford them and probably will only make a few of u recipes but thats really irrelevant because with u simply put instructions, I can do my own with the confidence to try that i didnt have before. The only real negative i have is dont buy the kindle version because there r no pics, sad face. Also, u should just write a book about u customer experiences, u captured the moment for sure and I saw myself in your "ask questions that I am too lazy to look for the answers" though i will say in my defense, some of the soapers websites Ive looked at r a mess! Oh, one more thing, I hardly ever write reviews....I dont want to spend my time doing that either but your unique way with words warrented it! Sincerely, From your sister soaper JD

Highly recommended for the first timer or those interested in master batches
This is the first soap making book I bought and it was a great choice. Detailed, step by step instructions, wonderful recipes, and my first batch of twelve bars of soap are going to be wonderful. I just know it! The only question I had after reading the book and referring back to it while making soap was this: cleaning up afterwards!! I know, silly right? However, I did "burn" myself during the cleaning process. I should have kept my gloves on! I have now learned that the lye is still active after the fact! Luckily I did have the ACV (apple cider vinegar) ready as Mr. White advised and it does work very well to neutralize the lye and stop the burn. Whether you are new to soap making or experienced, I would recommend this book. It even has different batch sizes. I suppose one is the regular size for home use but the other is for big batches (with a lot of different recipes from a master batch), which will be in my future as I want to give gifts this holiday season. Thank you Mr. White! Great book. Oh... also loved the essential oil descriptions.

Love this
I love all of the information in this book. If you are new to soap making, like myself, you will cherish this information. I continue to make the beef tallow recipe! So great for your skin and easy to make!

Awesome book! When my books arrived I took a quick glance at this one and another one and decided to put this one on the shelf. At first glance it looked to be a disappointment. Now over two months later I finally decided that I would take a better look and am very happy I did!!! This book is awesome! I love that it has a master batch with instructions on different ways to dress it up. The best part Is that the oils needed for the master batch you can get at your regular grocery store. I can make over a dozen different soaps using the same oils! How cool is that!!! This book also comes with other great soap recipes along with tips and tricks on how to sell your soaps. There is no pictures but tons of information. I have nothing bad to say about this book. This book is now my go to book for soap making. Love it!
