Excellent radio
This was my first upgrade from a Baofeng UV5R and its a great radio. Overall pretty user friendly, great quality. Has all the features I needed. I use a Nagoya 771 antenna on it and I have great connection.

Amazing Radio!!!!
Amazing DMR/Analog HT. I purchased this specifically for the 2-Tone encoding/decoding, and it works great. Very simple to program so long as you understand programming DMR radios. Love this radio!! I have a TH-D74A and lately I’ve been using the AnyTone over the Kenwood.

It's an amazing radio BUT the product description is both right, and very wrong at the same time
Great radio but if you want it to actually work with the frequency range stated in the product description it'll put up a real fight. If you look at both the bullet points and description in this listing you'll see it's stated that it supports 400-480MHz RX & TX. That is both true and not true at the same time. For those like me buying the 868 instead of the 878 for this very reason (878 states 400-460 TX or something) you could be in for a frustrating time here. When the radio was new back in what, 2018, this claim was absolutely true. Fire it up, enter frequencies up to 480MHz.. good to go. The problem is that this seller, and probably others load up latest firmware which is where things get complicated. There are some awesome things about the latest firmware, like the nice black background look cloned from the 878, but there are also restrictive changes.. and it's a double whammy.Mine came with firmware 2.38 which is weird, because that doesn't even seem to be a thing! Latest at sellers support page is 2.39, and 2.37 and below also available for download. The problem is that somewhere along the way the firmware set the Band Plan on these radios so by default they can only allow transmission from 400-450MHz. This situation affects what frequencies you can set, and also is why you might get a codeplug that you try and load and it throws a band plan error. If you google all this.. it would appear no problem! Simply turn on the radio holding the PTT and the 1 key and you'll boot into test mode where you can fix this.. BUT.. somewhere along the way, the firmware disabled that too!I bet you could flash a really old version of the firmware to get back to the original unit spec, but then you'd loose so much of the additional firmware improvements that have come along the way.The only way as far as I can tell to actually open this radio up to what it's advertised as is to use a firmware hack that re-instates the Boot with PTT+1 button option. This may very well void the warranty. It's also only available for a specific firmware version, and that doesn't seem like the kind of thing you'd want to mess with so..So. As of December 2020, if you want to use this radio for what the product description says it can be used for, you have to:- flash the firmware to whatever the hack says it supports - for me that was downgrading from 2.38 to 2.37- run the firmware hack- boot to test mode so you can change from whatever mode it's in to Mode 0000If you do all that. You have an 868 that works as advertised.

well built
Very clear and well built, its has a lot more features then the standard UV-5R radios and needs a good understanding of digital radios to program it. Not for the novice user. requires a FCC Ham radio license to transmit
