I was a little disappointed, but it's an okay book. I have a very old version of the Berlitz European Phrase Book that includes a pronunciation guide to the each languages' alphabet and letter combinations. That is lacking in all the new multi language books. I think that would have been helpful so you can at least read the signs and sound out things on your own that may not be in the book.

Good book but it would be a lot to learn at one time. However, if you are planning to take multiple trips to various European countries over a few years, this would be the one book or first book to buy.

It covers 8 languages when I only wanted two, but it covers them well and comes cheaper than 2 separate books. Help with the pronunciation should be useful, if a little time consuming. (it is for me, anyway) It seems like good value and I may get to use the other languages in the future.

Bought as a gift for a friend who is travelling Europe over the next few months. She likes it so much she is considering buying the Eastern and Northern Europe versions once she has a travel plan in place

Not the best, it misses some really obvious words. For instance the section headings for 'food', 'accommodation', etc are printed in English only, so nowhere in the text does it tell you what the matching word is in the language you are trying to use.

Pocket size and easy to use, can't fail really.
