Guyot Designs SplashGuard-Universal

This is very basic. It's a silicone splash guard. Fits into standard water bottles like Nalgene liter bottles. It is a soft, flexible silicone that you can bend with your fingers. Slots into place and stays there — but since it's flexible, you can push it down or reposition it if you want to. It is not going to fall out of place with normal movement of the water bottle, or even shaking (unless maybe if you shake it very aggressively and continuously). There is an air vent on one side and the drinking aperture on the other. It prevents water from splashing you in the face. Not much else to say — it does the job. Would buy again (and I have).

In the summer I tend to want to gulp water. And being an impatient person when wanting to drink, I can be a bit sloppy. I use the Nalgene bottle, 32oz/1 liter, wide mouth. So now instead of water or tea splashing on my chest, this makes drinking controlled. I don’t need to remove this when refilling the bottle. And while I don’t use ice, I suspect it would hold back the cubes so you don’t have to kinda drink AND kinda push the ice cubes outta the way at the same time. So for the sloppy amongst us or those who need a smaller opening to drink, dees are dem!

I love this splash guard for my Nalgene! I can curl my lip around the mouthpiece and the air outlet keeps it from creating a suction. It fits well in my water bottle and doesn’t slip. Good quality and good value!

I first purchased this unit at REI around 2018. It has lasted great, it still holds itself in the bottle lid (unless dropped hard obviously).The one downside is that over the years it has faded a little and looks a little brownish. Nothing functionally wrong with it just doesn't look as good anymore.I recently lost the bottle it was in so had to purchase another one.One of the best things about this particular unit (skull & crossbones) is the reaction when someone goes to take a drink and looks down at it.

This Splash Guard is genius! I have so many wide mouth water bottles, and I always get anxious when drinking from my bottles, I always tend to spill on myself in the most inconvenient times. Having this in my Nalgene gave me a lot of peace in drinking my water, knowing I wasn't going to spill while trying to hydrate and drink all the water.It's so easy to clean, easy to use, and fun to see a smiling face right before I take a drink! Definitely a great buy and one I will get again for future use!

We love these splashguards - we have several that we've used for years for our 32oz wide-mouth Nalgene bottles, and our 24oz Camelbak bottles. They make drinking out of the bottles so much easier than without. Yes, you have to be a bit careful putting them in (push too hard, and it'll be at the bottom of the bottle), but even my five-year-old figured out how to do it without major issue when he was four. They're also really easy to wash, as you can put them in the top rack of the dishwasher with your water bottles (just hook the loop looking part over one of the prongs on the rack), or wash it by hand.So recently, when I decided to replace the drink containers in lunchboxes with 16oz wide-mouth Nalgene bottles, I bought more of these. After all, it does say "Universal" and that it fits most wide-mouth bottles, right? And Nalgene calls those 16oz wide-mouth bottles "wide-mouth" after all. However, much to my slight annoyance, they don't fit he 16oz wide-mouth Nalgene bottles. Yes, Nalgene calls them wide-mouth, and they are technically wider than a narrow-mouth water bottle, but they aren't as wide as the other "wide-mouth" bottles that Nalgene makes. Which makes these too large for those bottles. So if you're thinking of using these for the 16oz "wide-mouth" bottles, don't make the same mistake as me - look elsewhere. (There is a mini size which says it's supposed to fit the bottles, SPLASHGUARD MINI BLUE, but I haven't actually tried it yet myself.) If you've got the larger bottles, go for these, as they're fabulous.

Never knew what I was missing until I used one of these. Over are the days of spilling water down my shirt while hiking. Super easy to drink with.
