Best of Alvin Lee

This is the third anthology put forth by my favorite guitar player, Alvin Lee. The material is not his best but you wouldn't know it by listening to this cd. That's how good this man's art has been over the years. If you never got past Ten Years After - don't bother. However, if you've been fortunate enough to follow this man's career, you're a well traveled fan on that mystical "Road to Freedom" that our hero has so dutifully pursued.If you don't have any Alvin Lee in your cd collection this anthology gives you a wonderful peek into this man's art. One of Alvin's best songs, "Bluest Blues", a moving piece that features his old neighbor George Harrison belongs in any Best of set, however, Alvin has put it on all three anthologies??? Since I own all three anthologies my only gripe with this last one is the inclusion of songs already on one of the other anthologies. I'd would've loved to have had some material "from the vaults" included - especially live material! Cough up the unreleased material, Alvin!!!

Imaginative, brilliant, superb guitar playing obviously. The world truly lost a great when Alvin departed. Keep on Rockin indeed.

I have been an Alvin Lee / Ten Years After fan since 1972.. I bought Rock and Roll Music to The World because the cover looked cool! Up til then it was just Top 40. I heard You give me loving, Convention Prevention and Choo Choo Mama and I was hooked.Saw them live in Little Rock at War Memorial Stadium around 73 ~ 74. (Wasn't even old enough to have a learners permit!)Playing live, they just had fun and so did I listening.Nutbush City Limits, Long Legs and a couple of others are just great to sing along with driving to/from anywhereThe "Live in Vienna 1994" is a little better, but this has some different songs, all done well.

Delivery was delayed, but product arrived in great condition.

Although I appreciate the blues of Alvin Lee, I was expecting more of the soul-touching lead guitar that became his signature sound. Still a good double album.

Good album of Alvin's music. Certainly not all his best. A little disappointing in the song selections. Good sound quality.

Love this CD and a great vendor to deal with

Questo chitarrista avrebbe meritato ben altra notorietà. Viene ricordato soltanto per la sua velocità sulla tastiera ma ascoltate The Bluest Blues, per me il migliore assolo di musica rock/blues di tutti i tempi.

Ten Years After ,alte Lieder neu verpackt und auch jederzeit neu zu entdecken.Immer wieder spannend in die vergangenen Zfiten einzutauchen.Gut, und empfehlenswert.

Bar his stunning incendiary Woodstock Festival appearance I did not know much of Lee’s work, other than he was the main man in Ten Years After. This 2 CD set is packed with tracks so good value but to my ears there are few gems here , however for the main it’s a lot of tried and tested blues/ R n B numbers, pretty underwhelming fare and I have better British blues band recordings ; Peter Green Fleetwood Mac, Stan Webb Chicken Shack, to name just 2

You know that song from The Wire? Yeah, it’s on here. What other reason do you need to buy this CD?
