A Basic Guide To Pattern Drafting Paperback – April 29, 2019

Great book for those intimidated to create garments from patterns. There are examples of what not to do also. As for a basic guide this is a good one. It’s a 60page book not an all-you-need-to-know guide which I think some of these reviewers thought this book would be. Also, the pics are big enough and detailed enough to begin one’s own basic fashion illustrating.

Nick, you have once again knocked it out of the box. I am a loyal fan, and love how you educate us an make it fun. Thank you for another great book.

It does giver drafting directions it does have many excellent illustrations of altered basic.

There is a reason the author mentions it’s a supplement to other books. It is very sparse on details. If you don’t have a basic understanding of what the pictures are demonstrating you would be very lost.I like the images and I do fine it useful as a reference guide but that’s really about it. It’s almost like buying a textbook, removing the text, and just lumping the illustration into chapters.

This book might be good for a novice sewer, beginner pattern maker, but I found it totally useless. Information was too vague, not specific enough. I do like Nick, have watched him many times on YouTube, and have found his tutorials very useful. This book, however, falls way short of the mark. Would not recommend it to anyone. I’m sending it back.

To the lady that have a one star. It states in the description it is for beginners!!!!!

I should have known by the price…not at all what I expected. SUPER basic with no formulas for creating slopers. It is most definitely a good assist for folks taking a pattern making course though, especially if they aren’t particularly grasping the concept. I teach fashion design classes and will most certainly recommend this to students as an assist, but definitely not good if you are trying to learn how to draft patterns from scratch. I do love how it’s illustrated though.
