It works but it's not simple.
First I highly recommend watching a good video on how to do this whole process BEFORE starting anything.MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING A KEY WITH THE CHIP IN IT. THE FIRST TWO KEYS I BOUGHT DID NOT HAVE CHIPS AND CANNOT BE PROGRAMMED TO START THE VEHICLE. THEY CAN ONLY BE USED TO UNLOCK/LOCK THE DOORS.The unit comes with everything you need. After installing the software (simple), connecting the programmer to the computer (simple), removing the box from the vehicle (not simple) and the removing the board from the box (simple), I carefully scraped the waterproofing from the contacts on all 4 sides of the chip (not hard but be careful). I then connected the reader to the chip. This is where you MUST make sure that it's seated the correct direction (use the arrow on the reader cap and a good video). The problem I was having is the reader cap wouldn't stay snug on the chip. IT WILL NOT READ THE CHIP IF IT DOESNT HAVE A VERY GOOD CONNECTION. I found that if I lightly squeezed the reader cap on the chip and held it the whole time, it would work. It still took a couple times because I would move my hand and it would lose connection. Once you get a good read, you can then follow a good video to program a new key. MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THE CORRECT SETTINGS BEFORE WRITING OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER. I forgot to change one of the defaults once and had to start over. Once the key was written, I reinstalled the card in the box (simple) and reinstalled the box in the vehicle (not simple). I then proceeded to reprogram the lock buttons while in the vehicle (you must do this for all your keys at the same time not just the one you reprogrammed - there are videos for this). I tried the lock buttons and all keys worked. I then tried the new and old keys in the ignition and they both worked.Overall it is not a simple process but it does work. I saved alot of money by DIY but it does take patience and time. This was for a 2005 BMW 330 xi.

Watch many vids
No instructions and pretty generic but there is a plethora of tutorials out there so watch them and you shouldn't have a problem. Also check your EWS chip to see if you'll need the adapter or if you want to solder on your circuit board.

It Worked!
Had to go online to find one of the files needed - driver or ? but with my son's help we were able to get everything working. The key (no pun intended) is to find a locksmith who can cut from the old key ( e36 and e46 BMW)Once that was done all went well.$26 for two keys$70 to cut two keys$30 for AK90+$13 for the little BMW logo buttons (4 of them - only needed 2)$139 total for 2 brand new keys coded to your vehicle is a whole lot less than the dealershipOh - and then programing the lock / unlock / trunk release buttons was a simple 2 minute affair.

Forget the Dealership
The BMW dealership wanted to charge my Brother-in-law $350 for a new transponder key plus he had to have the registration as proof of ownership which would be fine if he hadn't just bought it off of a coworker. It needed quite a bit of work and without a working key was pretty difficult. Kind of pointless to register it unless the car is road worthy. But thanks to this little box it was a breeze to program a new key into the E46 EWS vehicle immobilizer system. and at 1/7th the cost.

Could be better
Probably I should mention that the product itself it’s ok but it’s nothing without the proper softwareThat’s actually the down sideThe software you need to install from a Chinese server witch it’s a little difficult with windows 10 or 11The should make available a link for download in the cloud or a different platformI wasn’t able to use it due the software issue

Surprisingly, pirate hardware manufacturers do not pay attention to quality control.
When manufacturing hardware and software for piracy, perhaps quality control is not high on the list of priorities. I bought this without high expectations, but with high hopes and curiosity. After spending several hours with this it, I can conclude that while it *can* work, it probably does not for the vast majority of people who buy this junk. The software actually works all right and I was able to run the “Test Key” function successfully. However when trying to read my EWS module (the entire reason for buying this) I got the “No pin touch” error. For hours I troubleshooted, scraped gently, applied pressure, rotated, etc… all for nothing in the end. The hardware is poorly designed to touch the pins in the first place—there are also mentions of other users finding that the issue is the wires of the adapter. And oh yeah, the “no pin touch” is incredibly common and frequently unfixable based on research which I have spent way too much time doing. While I knew what I was getting into and considered this an experiment, it was ultimately a waste of money and a lot of time.

Great cheap programmer
Lost the only key I had to my 2002 BMW 325i, did some research online and found out about this product. Bought this programmer and 2 blank keys, retrieved the EWS unit from my car, and got to work.Very simple to use and I loved that the software comes with pictures to help make sure you have everything in place. One thing that did suck for me was that I don't have a disk drive, so I had to find a downloadable version of the software online and it worked fine with this unit. Would be cool if the company included a link to download the software for people like me.
