I LOVE this Mirka Deros sander!
I LOVE it! It works SO Effortlessly and Quietly it's amazing! I also got the Hose... I would NOT connect to my Ridgid shop vac hose... a visit to Home Depot for a converter kit solved that problem! I also got some Abranet sanding disks and a Pad Saver. I had some very ROUGH slabs of Black Walnut to use as a Test piece. I had some 5 hole H&L sand paper disks. I was started with 60 grit 5 hole sandpaper disks... I was very much surprised how well they worked! ... The vac. got ALL of the dust... NOT a speck! So, if you have a supply of old 5 hole paper disks THEY ARE STILL GOOD! I went through the grits... 60, 80 5 hole paper disks... Then I switched to the Abranet disks... 120, 220, and 400 grits. All went smooth and easy! The super rough Walnut ended up to be as smooth as a baby's butt! The Abranet disks didn't show any signs of wear... a very good BUY for the money! The test piece of Walnut I used was about 14" x 36" and I did BOTH sides! The shop vac was louder than the sander! ... The sander is super quiet... and fits the hand VERY WELL! I did wear gloves that had open fingers... Noticed hardly any strain. I LOVE the sander... I'm glad I wasn't able to get the Ceros (due to personal problems) and went for this Deros when things were better. I had decided I had to get a good sander with EXCELLENT DUST COLLECTION CONTROL because I had a bad experience with sanding without the good dust control... it really messed me up... eyes & lungs... I could NOT go through that again! This sander is WORTH every penny just for the Dust Control! ... It works perfectly! ... I did NOT notice ONE SPECK of uncollected dust! If you are concerned about Dust Control, I'm convinced... This is SUPER GOOD! You will be VERY HAPPY with it! Of course, I could say "For this price, it should be GOOD" ... It is & then some! Thank you, Mirka, for a Super product!

Best 5" sander available IMO. (After 1 year of use)
I love this sander. I'm a full time woodworker and have owned a cabinet shop for ten years. I started out with the standard big box store brand 5" sander that cost around $100. It was fine. But after about a year it actually vibrated itself to death. Falling apart from hours and hours of use. I then moved on the the high end Festool brushless 5" sander. It was around $400. It was great compared to the cheaper ones. Easier to hold and it did a great job. But when you sand for eight hours straight you want the best tool you can possible get. So I got the Mirca 5" sander. I didn't know if it would be better than the festool one, but it is. I like the way it fits in my hand. I like how the paddle on the top turns it on and off. It does a good job. After a year of use I think it was well worth the money. Because I sand a lot of sharp edges I use solid 5" sanding disc. Anything with holes gets riped pretty fast. I swear by the 5" Indasa sanding discs. Even though they are solid this sander does a good job of sucking up all the dust. It has ports that get the dust as it comes off the disc. I know $600 is a lot to spend on a sander, but its worth it if you sand stuff for a living.

Amazing tool
This tool has changed my shop life. I had been suffering from what I can only assume is carpel tunnel in my wrist from working in general, and exasperated by sanding. I was using a DeWalt prior to being turned on to the Mirka, and it was awkward and heavy, making sanding while suspending the tool in the air (like sanding the edge of a board) painful, especially after a long session. This sander is incredibly light in comparison. The center of gravity is quite low and it is compact, making it easier to keep flat on the workpiece as well as making it more maneuverable. The vibration from this tool is so minimal that I no longer need gloves, and it is impressively quiet. I used this sander for about 6 months under heavy use, and inevitably an electrical problem occurred (I actually live in the rainforest where humidity is stupid high all year). I sent it back to Mirka with a brief explanation of what happened and how I hoped that they could repair it for me. Within ten days I had a brand new sander in its own new systainer box and all of the original accessories that came with the first one. Not only is the tool itself impressive, but their customer service and warranty is top notch.

I loved this sander the first time I used it. Not so much after that.
I'd like to say all the positive reviews are true, light easy on the hands, light, dustless, quiet are all correct. This is the best sander I've ever used. I used it for about 30 minutes the first time. A couple of days later on the second use, it wouldn't turn on. When you power on there is a red light, instead of a green light and it won't turn on. After this happened, I read the negative reviews and apparently these sanders don't last long, which is unacceptable for a sander that cost $625. I also noticed Mirka didn't respond to any of the problems users were complaining about in the reviews, which tells you something. As much as I loved this sander when it worked, I can't say I will try other Mirka product.

Best sander ever
I have owned and used a variety of orbital sanders through my woodworking career and this one tops the list. It does the work with ease and little vibration. Super product!

Mixed reviews
This sander was the first big investment sander I made as a hobby woodworker. I had high expectations, especially given the price, and it had some benefits. It's very light and versatile and is a great random orbit sander. It falls short on heavy sanding, where you need to take a lot of wood off. It did attempt it, but just wasn't more than a really good random orbit sander. I kept it for a few weeks and had to send it back. I replaced it with a Festool Rotex 125 for the same price and am very happy with the Festool.
