Small footprint, many uses and fast reaction times
I was building a portable low voltage high current power supply and needed something to isolate the batteries from the input as well as isolate the buck - boost charging circuit during use. i needed these double pole, double throw options to disconnect or connect the + and - simultaneously and be able to switch high currents at the same time as well as being reasonably fast in doing so.The relays fit straight into vero-board and the legs are a snug fit so they did not need tacking in to get them to stay put. The switching speed seems fast as the tone generated when testing them was way higher than the 50ms I needed to keep the input, the batteries and the charging circuits all separated when the input was presented. I would say that the 15 ms stated is a good approximation of time to engage at 12.0 volts.A flyback diode is needed if you are triggering using solid state. For the price, the size and the fact these switch 8 amps means they are good valve and really do fit the spot.If you want to do 12 volt switching of mains voltages, they do have the minimum 2 mm gaps between tags and they also are rated to do that as the ones i got are omron relays :)
