Won't read 3 vehicles/////Please read my new update
I tried to read the codes on my 2003 387 Peterbilt with a 450 ISX Cummins. It would read the ABS module that’s it. Gave rudimentary information about the automatic transmission. Nothing else. I said let me check it on my 2015 Chrysler 200 S last week. Failure to communicate. Just last night I said let me check it on my 2007 Chevy Silverado. Failure to communicate. As far as I can tell it’s worthless I will be pursuing a return because it does have a two-year warranty. Or a replacement that works I would rather have a refund .Please read my new update. I had the pleasure of dealing with Yisam at Toptool customer service. I reached out with my dissatisfaction and they could not have been more accommodating. It never got to the point of an argument because they offered me a very fair refund. I'm used to fighting for anything, you know, to get something back from a product that didn't work 100% as it should. So now I also have to put in my disclaimer that as far as communicating with the PETERBILT, it's not the only machine that is unable to connect with the ECM. i've still got a gremlin or 2 in there I have to get rid of a communication gremlin. As far as hooking up to the other two vehicles, to the car and the pick up truck I don't know. I couldn't connect. But I do have to say that evaluation is right .. maybe I just got the one out of however many machines it didn't work right. Happens to the best of them. But my point is there's a point of this and it says say that their customer service was very accommodating so I wouldn't be afraid to buy the unit, if God forbid it did not do what you needed it to do contact them. I would say contact Yisam But I don't want to put all the work load on her. Lol She went above and beyond for me and I thank her..

Everyone should have one of these code readers!!!
The media could not be loaded. I have recently had my check engine light come on only to turn off the next day. I almost took it to the Chevy dealer both times. My car is no longer covered under the factory warranty so I had taken my car to the dealer it would have cost at least $100 to have them check my engine code and tell me what the light was for. So I decided to buy my own code reader becasue I also bought my daughter a used 2010 car as her first car. It comes with a really nice case which I was not expecting. It has a built in battery and comes with a USB charging cable. It fires right up as soon as you connect it to your car. The interface is very easy to navigate through and the scan is easy to run. Everything shows good on my car right now. But if not, I am ready to have this tell me the issue so that I can call around and ask for the best repair price. All cars should have these!!

Didn't work
It looked like this would be exactly what I needed. I have a simple ODB reader that has served me well for over 10 years, but I wanted a unit that would give me live data and work on diesel engines. The operating instructions were poorly written with little information, other than the unit needed updating before use. A pain to get updated, the company didn't recognize the serial number, and after finally getting it to update, the reader would not link to any vehicle I tried it on, I would get the message that it was linking, but after 3 or 4 minutes, nothing. I tried it several times, same results. My 10 year old reader will connect in seconds. Save your time and money and get a better one. I'm getting my money back.

Code Reader Replacement for Cummins QuickCheck 5200
About 8 years ago I bought a used 2002 Tiffin RV with a Cummins 330 Hp QSC8.3 and Allison Transmission. A code reader did not come with the RV. More recently the engine became hard to start, and then would not start at all. I was flying blind without a code reader but did not want to pay for the OEM QC5200, the cummins Handheld tool. I decided to try the Kzyee KC601, a chinese knock off that was specifically designed for J1587, J1708, and J1939 truck protocols. The punch line is the KC601 worked as advertised, and I was able to read all the codes from the engine, transmission, ABS and instrument cluster. The unit screen displayed all the codes and was able to page through and review each one. There is no internal memory so I used my phone camera to take pictures of all existing codes before clearing. I was able to clear all the codes with the handheld except ABS, which was stated on the website description. Upon purchase the KC601 firmware needed an update. The instructions take you to their web site for this unit where you download 2 files, one is the software for your PC to interface with the USB connection, the other was the firmware file. Instructions were poor but was able to get through it without too much pain. For my situation the KC601 got me out of a jam, because there was no way to diagnose the engine problems without a tool. After clearing the old codes, and starting over, among others, code 276 and 277 indicated electrical issues. Turns out the starting battery ground wire to the RV frame and some of the electrical connections to the engine needed a good cleaning. However, more damage was done and still trying to find the fix 276 and 277 won't clear. Poor ground connections caused the fuel injection valve soleniod to draw high amps and fail opened. As a scanner, I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of poor instructions on updating firmware and inability to reset ABS codes. For advanced diagnostics and 2-way communications with vehicle components, Cummins also makes the laptop interface using their "Insite" software and "Inline" USB adapter and software. I exhausted all remedies from fault codes where the problem required more advanced injector valve "click-test". The KC601 is only a reader, so this test can only be done with Insite. Not out of the woods yet.
