Journey to a faraway kingdom where magic reigns hand-in-hand with fun! Meet Sofia The First, a new little princess making her big debut. After her mother marries the king, Sofia becomes a princess overnight! Suddenly, she's on her way in a flying carriage to the Royal Preparatory Academy, where headmistresses Flora, Fauna and Merryweather will teach her everything she needs to know. But can Sofia break a bumbling sorcerer's spell and make friends with her new stepsister? Perhaps... with kindness, help from her talking animal friends, and some loving guidance from special guest Cinderella. Rich with original songs, delightful characters and exciting surprises, plus a bonus Royal Sing-Along, SOFIA THE FIRST: ONCE UPON A PRINCESS is the ultimate guide for showing every little princess in training how to sparkle - inside and out! Review: Excellent movie - This is an excellent introduction to the show. If you've seen the show, but you haven't seen this, you should probably see it. It's a lot like the shows (which are also excellent), except it's longer and Sofia is seeing everything for the first time. The characters learn some important moral lessons and develop quite a bit. You learn how Sofia obtains the Amulet of Avalor, how she comes to be able to talk to animals, and how she copes with becoming a princess. We also learn about how Sofia and Amber learn to love each other, and it's a good thing they do! It's quite emotional in a good way, eventually. Amber develops quite a bit throughout the series (and here, too), just so you know. You'll probably want to get the HD version. It's high quality (same for the series, too), and it makes a big difference on HD devices (such as my Kindle Fire HD 8 sixth edition) when you pre-download the show at best quality. It's still great when streaming, but it looks a lot better and makes for a better experience at best quality. If you're one to watch things like this multiple times, I highly recommend watching it the first time at streaming quality, and then watching it again pre-downloaded at best quality. It'll be kind of like watching it for the first time twice. This movie and the show both have a *lot* of re-watch value, IMO. Sofia is a kind-hearted girl who loves being around people, and helping them to be happy. She loves helping others improve their situations. She's also quite strong and determined (although you probably see that a lot more in the show than in this movie, since she's still coming to terms with being a princess in the movie—but you do see it in the movie). She hardly ever does anything wrong, thankfully (although there are a few times in the series), but don't worry, because it's very well-done and you still learn a lot. This should leave you with a good feeling afterward, much like the vast majority of the series episodes. Review: Wonderful princess for kids up to 8. - Sofia is 8 years old. She is very charming little girl and after watching this DVD with my girls I can atest that as old as 7.5 will totally enjoy it. It has some values in it and it teaches you kindness and all that so it is good and different of typical scare the shorts of little kids with some super scary vilans type of deal. So this is good. It has other princess characters in it.. Cindy being one of htem, there good faires from Aurora story etc.. Story is good, action flows nicely, graphics are awsome. Easy to watch and very enjoyable. The better if you get it with the costume and amulet and tiara but not the one that is included with this dvd as those are jsut booklet style fold and make it yourself things with stickers and not real deal. Disney issued a very short series of Costumes and accessories but they are already sold out so hard to find but the DVD iteself is really and totally worth of buying.

Nice intro/prequel to the series
Nice intro/prequel to the series. Pros: 1. Five songs. 2. A good introduction to the series. 3. I loved Amber in this. Usually in the series, Amber likes to only show her strong side of her to others. Here, you get to see and understand more of Amber's personally feelings regarding things. And I agree with Amber. (I made an analysis of Amber's character and I'll link it below.) If you are a fan of Amber, I think the scenes with Amber are worth watching. 4. Like Amber, you also get to see another side of Sofia and it does a good job of exploring Sofia's character. Cons: 1. It's a bit short and (personally) I wouldn't re-watch the whole thing over and over. 2. Some scenes are nice the first time but this movie is not as fun or cheerful as the series as a whole (though of course, it makes up for it with a sweet ending). 3. If you aren't already a fan of the series, you may not like it that much. As a standalone movie (ignoring the rest of the series), it's only decent (movie is kind of short honestly and it doesn't really explore too much). Though for fans of the series (and if you haven't watched this yet), it's a good prequel/intro to the series that I recommend. I'll be honest and say it's mostly the scenes at the end of this movie that really makes this movie. If you are a fan (or your kids) of the series though (and you haven't watched this yet), you'll probably like it and the scenes at the end make this movie worth it. Misc: 1. You get to hear most of the VAs get into the characters for the first time. Ariel Winter, Darcy Rose Byrnes, etc sound a bit different than they normally do (since this is the first time they are getting into their characters). So for the novelty, I enjoy listening to the characters here. Amber is one of my favorite characters of all time. She may seem vain and shallow but she's a more than meets the eye type of character. One of the major things of the intro is that it shows a bit of Amber's side of the story. I made a comment explaining and analyzing Amber's character in response to this review and you can see it here: https://www.amazon.com/review/R2JM1KI31F5YG8/ Overall this is a nice intro/prequel the series. For those who haven't seen this yet but watch the series, I really recommend it to fans (as an Amber fan, I loved all the scenes with her, especially near the end when she kind of panics and then finally reveals her feelings to Sofia, and they become friends). I loved the moments with Amber, and it's great to see Sofia's attempts at being a Princess for the first time.

Adorable, Disney did an amazing job on this one!
There is everything to love about this sweet movie! The entire series is just darling! Disney as always does a wonderful job! It's something that a family of adults can watch! Even though it was made for kids! My niece is who got me watching it. I looked up and found the movie for my 16 year old son and I because we wanted to know how it all began! 😃 It's great fun, amazing lessons, and a just great quality show! I watch it all of the time now!

Darling and Musical
My 3 year old and I can sit and watch Sofia The First together, and we both enjoy it! The music is darling and the lessons Sofia learns are tender and understandable for a young girl. Even my 9yr old and 7yr old love to sit and watch it with the little one (they ask to watch it with her all the time). Darling, darling show. This DVD only has the very first Sofia episode (it is 48 minutes). My only complaint is that I wish it had more episodes!

About an hour long film about sofia. If you let it run on its own it plays the film and extras without you needing to do anything. The film is about how sofia became a princess, and manages to squeeze in a moral or 2. Very girly DVD, probably suitable for ages 3-6. You don't need to know who she is to enjoy the film.
