I bought this for testing how well my reverse osmosis water purifier works. My municipal water utility water tests over the EPA MCL guideline of 500 ppm for total dissolved solids. In short, the water is nasty tasting. The utility reports that the source water is from multiple general sources, none specifically identified. When it rains a lot the tap water has noticeable color and tastes worse. I have about 15 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment. Additionally, the city uses a private contractor to provide water and wastewater treatment services. I want to believe the best, but a level of skepticism is warranted. There can be lots of contaminants in the source water. Add variable sources with changes in quality guaranteed and I am motivated to make sure my water is good tasting and safe to drink. Even my dog has started to drink more water since utilizing an RO water purifier. I did the math, an RO water purifier is cost effective when compared to buying bottled water that is also of unclear quality and origin. Much of bottled water is actually RO treated municipal water. That is not to say that all tap water is bad. I worked at a utility that had fabulous source water That tasted great and made good coffee. I knew what was in it since I was a professional water treatment operator.

Doing the intended job

I love the fact that the product comes in its little pouch for storage. The device works perfectly fine. We tried it in different water sources to see if it works and it does give different readings that correlate with the type of water that is being tested. I also like the fact that you can take the water temperature. Not that I use it that much but it comes in handy. I purchased this product because we have a filter system and we want to be able to know when the filter needs to be replaced. This is great and better than just "assuming" to replace a filter after a specified amount of time considering that we are big water drinkers!

Worked well for about one year and then died. New batteries didn’t fix it — just slowly faded out screen.Very easy to use, but caution if you’re buying this for any remote work, as it may not last.

Very inconsistent readings.

Good product. I have it for 2 years. Still working well. But remember to turn it off every time. It has no auto turning off. If you don't do that, it will run out of power.
