BELL Spark MIPS Adult Mountain Bike Helmet

This helmet fits perfectly and has ample adjustment for smaller and larger heads. The helmet features the MIPS system which is extra protection in the event of a crash. This adds a bit of weight to the Helmet but is not noticeable once you put the helmet on. I would strongly recommend this helmet.Update, today Sept 7th I was in significant bicycle accident causing my left front of my head to hit the pavement very hard at 20 mph. Thankfully I walked away with only a few scratches and a cracked helmet. This helmet saved me from a concussion and neck whiplash. I also had major neck and back surgery recently and was not affected at all thanks to the MIPS system that eliminated any whiplash from impact. I believe so much in this helmet that I just bought a new one as this helmet is a lifesaver. Highly recommend it. Thank you Bell for keeping me in one piece!

It initially looks like a sleek looking helmet and I love the matte gun metal grey; however, I already have a bigger than average head, and this helmet reminded me of the SNL conehead skits, it doesn't feel big, but it sure looks big. The padding is much thicker than it's little brother the Nomad, and it has more padding throughout the inside. Chin strap seems a bit excessively long but not a bid deal. It's adjustable under the ears, which is nice since other companies are going to a locked, one side fits most. The visor is almost nonfunctional because it's mounted very high up on the helmet, it doesn't even look right when you look at yourself in the mirror. I'm more about functionality than looks but the larger than average look, and the visor being mounted too high, does not instill confidence. Comfort and adjustability is spot on, but visor functionality and big looks came up short.

Upon unboxing, it was immediately apparent that the visor and the adjustment mechanism is slightly a darker red than the rest of the helmet - a different material, a different finish than the rest of the helmet. The difference in color is easily overlooked, but the visor placement is a little unusual - it’s also permanently mounted and not adjustable in any way.Adjustment of the helmet is as easy as rotating the knob on the back. Once it’s set, it’s mechanically secured in place. The helmet is lightweight and very comfortable.My notable observations: the permanent placement of the visor is relatively high and does not block out the sun. The chin strap adjusts from only one side, which forces the male/female locking mechanism to move toward the right side if you normally wear a medium to small size helmet.Overall, it’s an attractive helmet with bold, rich color, but it’s a little expensive for not having a removable/adjustable visor that is permanently mounted unusually high and does not even block the sun. If you like the color red, you’ll love the finish on this helmet. It will serve its purpose to protect you in the event of a accident, but there are many similar comparable helmets available with a smaller price tag. I’d suggest shopping around a little before commuting to this one. It definitely looks great and will otherwise function as intended.

The helmet is not at all what I thought it would be. The visor is too far on the top of the helmet and is more or less useless. Also the reason I bought was because of the MIPS system. Unfortunately the plastic webbing that comprises the MIPS system is oversized enough that it could not be worn without overlapping the top of my ear or going behind it enough and digging in to the base of my ear aggressively enough to cause skin tearing.There isn't much adjustment to the MIPS portion of the strapping other than the back buckle so I had no option but to return the helmet for a refund. Learned my lesson...try on a helmet before purchasing.Bottom line - don't know if it was the big helmet or my big ears, but the two of them were not compatible.

Rode with my new helmet for first time today. Fit was perfect,comfortable with no issues. This helmet is light, maybe not the lightest on the market, but not noticable. For me the visor was well positioned and caused no issues. I ride a mountain bike and on trails, so that posture may be why, I know others have commented, but not an issue.Well constructed, and comparing it to my old schwinn helmet I can see where the investment is over a $25 helmet. I hope I never have to test its effectiveness but feel that is not an issue.

Wish it worked less well.Fell off my bike and hit my head in front of like seven people who all laughed.Probably would've preferred to be unconscious for that.

Got me a new lid. Bell Sparks. More Endoro then X country . More protection, truth when I put it on out of the box it felt a bit like my old Motorcycle helmet .Very Comfortable. Might be a bit more weight compared to my old Lazer Nirvana. But it felt very comfortable on my head. Bell been making helmets since 1954. Yep Car racing and motorcycles. So they should have MTN. Biking and off road down. I think I'm going to like this helmet.

I wish the visor position was adjustable, but other than that, this is another great helmet from Bell. Very comfortable, and somehow it channels sweat away from your face. Venting was adequate even on a 97deg high humidity day here in the midwest.
