Q: Can they be used while charging?

I have been doing just that for almost a year now using the FUVALI battery brand. BUT WITH WITH SOME CONCERNS! I have 4 individual Govee temperature transmitters charging every 12 hours for 5 minutes. Each USB charger is plugged into a KASA TP link smart plug set up with the built-in timer function. One of the FUVALI batteries started to heat up fueling my concern about fire risk. Therefore I started using the KASA switch. Since the battery is inside the temperature sensor I can monitor any spike in temperature. If the temperature increases with more than 1 degree F, I discard the battery. Normally I observe 0.5 F (which stays constant even when charging continously)

Q: What is lithium polymer? I've heard of lithium ion but not lithium polymer

The main difference is that lithium ion uses a liquid electrolyte where a lithium polymer uses a dry solid electrolyte. My brother-in law- tried to explain the difference to me but it went over my head. I have the AA version and they charge up at just under 5v, but when removed from the charger they have lost 2 - 3 volts just sitting there. (All lithium batteries will lose some voltage maybe up to 2% per month.) Lithium polymer aren`t as popular as lithium ion. I`m new to this type also and I`m using two in a blink camera (Indoors) with no problems so far. One thing I like is the charge port in the battery. Service life will be shorter, but so far, I like them, only time will tell.

Q: I see that it is recommended to use a 5 volt charger but it what amperage? Is it the same for each of Bump's battery sizes?

I do not know what the amperage is on the chargers I have but the Batteries recharge with the Kindle charger as well as the USB outlet on the newer power strips.

Q: Do they have to charged before the first use?

Mine came with a "nominal" amount of charge in them. IMO to be sure you get the most life out of them, I would charge them. Its easy as plugging into a USB charger.
