Great device! Excellent gift!
This thing is absolutely amazing! My wife has celiacs disease and loves it! It has saved her a few times from cross contaminated meals. The capsules are expensive but the device has an app that you can check out other peoples experiences at restaurants in your area. So that helps cut costs on capsules.Another cool thing is if you have a Flexible Spending Account and can prove with a doctors note you have a gluten intolerance the capsules are rei-mburseable.I think overall the device itself could be a little cheaper. But it works!

ZERO WARRANTY / CUSTOMER SERVICE ERRORS CONSTANTLY
I'm beyond disappointed with this product. After using it initially I thought it was working fine, but then it started only giving an error, over and over. Says to contact support. When I sent an email to the one on Nima's website, I got a response back by Medline. Then... nothing. For months, despite reaching out multiple times. Now the latest response is that they were acquired and this email may no longer be supported at all! I've done my part in being a loyal customer, so where's the support when the product fails to work after a short period of light use? I've wasted so many capsules thinking it was me and how I was testing. Now I have nothing to show for it but a piece of junk. Way to get my hopes up about being able to enjoy a life eating out. What a waste of a good idea. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!

Best product ever!
The first time I used the Nima Gluten Sensor I discovered the “gluten free bread” I’ve been eating isn’t gluten free at all. No wonder I’ve been challenged! I’ve had no problem ordering extra test capsules. This device is literally going to support a healthy life style for me from now on.

It works.....apparently
If this tester is truly accurate, then it is a plus. There is no way I know to corroborate the findings by the Nima sensor. Beware that you can order the sensor without capsules. I thought it was pretty chintzy that they did not include at least two capsules in the order. The instructions need to be written by someone who has a handle on the English language. Operating the Nima is easy. Way too much verbiage in the instructions for a simple gadget. The major minus is the capsules are expensive! However, if this device truly is working, it is very useful for us folks with celiac disease. Was recommended to me by a very smart gastroenterologist friend.

Better than an Anxiety Pill!
This is a life saver! With celiac disease, I had been getting glutened every other week, taking five days for my joints and muscles to recover each time. I became paranoid about dining out. Now I’m able to test food that wasn’t prepared by me. I can avoid getting sick. I can attempt to go to more restaurants without massive anxiety. I highly recommend!

Useful until it’s not.
Originally I gave this 5 stars, because it does work well. It’s compact, and since my husband has Celiacs Disease, it’s super helpful. But it broke after 6 months. And the warranty runs out after 2 months. And there’s no way to search for help or speak to customer services that I’ve been able to find.So now it’s a $230 paperweight, because we’re going to have to pay for a new one.

Freedom!
I am SO GLAD I bought this gluten tester. I've been having a problem lately with eating items marked as gluten free, like Chex cereal, when, in fact, they contain gluten and cause me 3-4 weeks of sickness and recovery. So, I purchased this machine and have been testing and testing the common things I eat, mainly spices. I do not ever eat out and I wash everything off before I eat it, as I rarely eat pre-made foods. So, having this machine to test the items that I cannot wash off and such, is fantastic! Now, maybe I can avoid so many glutened episodes.

Surely Not Everything Has Gluten?
I suppose I may have gotten a bad unit, but I had to send this back. Every single thing I tested came back positive for gluten - including a piece of steak.Being something of a scientist myself, I wondered just how inaccurate the sensor was. So, I bought a bag of gluten-free corn meal, a box of plastic spoons, a bottle of water, a box of disposable plastic gloves, and a container of Red Solo cups. I scrubbed everything in my kitchen as well as humanly possible and then began my experiment. Donning my plastic gloves, I used a fresh plastic spoon to put a few scoops of the cornmeal into a red solo cup. I then poured water into the cup until the corn meal was a thick paste. I used a different plastic spoon to load the paste into the Nima sensor. A short while later, the sensor indicated the presence of gluten. At this point, I decided the sensor was useless and sent it back to Amazon for a refund.
