THE BOUNDARY BREAKER. The last thing you want to be thinking about in the middle of a long backcountry ride is your helmet. It should be well-ventilated. It should protect your head. And it should fit so well that you don't know it's there. The Sixer takes to the trail with our integrated MIPS technology, resulting in a sleeker, closer-to-the-head fit that combines with our Float Fit system and proprietary Sweat Guide to ensure unprecedented comfort in a helmet. Goggle compatibility, complete with a strap gripper at the rear of the helmet, adjustable visor height, integrated camera/light mount and a full hard shell round out the package. We've sweated every detail on the Sixer so that out on the trail, the only sweating you'll have to worry about is your own.

Nice but not for heavy sweat
So I waited nearly a year to write this review they have a good opportunity to try my helmet in all kinds of weather. I really wanted to love this helmet and on the helmet peg board I love it. I like the camo and orange color way, MIPS and ventilation but the sweat pad system is absolute rubbish. Now I say that with the caveat that I sweat like nobody's business. I sweat from my bald head like an absolute waterfall and I sweat a bunch from the eyebrows. The sweat pad channel system does not work enough to pull the sweat to the center and let it fall in front of my glasses. Because of the amount my eyebrows sweat, the sweat from the pad just drains right down my eyes, rarely ever making it to the center of the pad and sweat channel. Aside from my problem, the fit is good, tightening screw works well, the adjustable visor and camera mount are great. It is probably a good helmet if you are not a heavy sweater like me. I wanted to like this product, but just can't come to recommend it without the warning about my experience.

Great looking helmet, fits well, and has truly saved my noggin, but a couple flaws.
This helmet truly saved my noggin from an unexpected low tree branch, took a real knock that severely dented the outer shell and cracked one of the inner foam ribs in half, but the MIPS worked great and I came away with zero injury and just a bit stunned. So for actual performance as a head saving device, NO complaints, 5 stars :)On top of that, it's a very good looking item, and fits perfectly, without squishing my sunglasses against the bridge of my nose, which some other helmets do. I also really like the adjustable visor.Just two complaints (nothing's perfect I guess):1) the little yellow rubber retention do-dads that keep the MIPS membrane attached to the helmet itself are just too cheap, and don't last long, maybe 1 year or so (and of course, the warranty is 1 year....) It would sure be nice if they lasted longer, or at least could be replaced once broken, but Bell says they cannot be field replaced. I often kind of squeeze the helmet against my head to wring out the sweat when riding - in doing so, it seems to put too much stress on those do-dads, and eventually they will just break in half. Once that happens, the helmet is basically done. *Maybe* you could still use it with one of those busted, but with 2 or more busted, it's not usable, the thing just floats all over your head at that point. In any case, even with one busted, not sure if it would perform right from a safety standpoint... Not sure if this is Bell or just the MIPS design in general (same or similar retention do-dads seem to be used on other vendors).2) the plastic bolts holding the visor in place are awful. They are almost guaranteed to fall out within a week or two of riding, and you'll probably lose at least one that way and not be able to find it since the bolt will fall out at some point but the visor won't noticeably detach from the helmet on that side until the next big hit or whatever. I tried putting some loctite on to hold them in, but since they're plastic, that just solvent dissolved them and made them unusable. Now I basically just replace them with metal bolts and loctite as soon as a I open the box, having learned from the previous couple. YMMV. Happy riding!

It works
This is my second Bell Sixer MIPS helmet. I had to replace the first one since I scraped it up in a MB crash and it received a dent. No use taking chances – so – I replaced it.The helmet worked well. I did not even know that I had hit my head until I noticed that the helmet was scraped and dented. So, was it worth the money? Yes it was.The helmet is fairly comfortable and adjusts very easy.It does not drop sweat in my eyes for the most part but would probably work much better with a thin headband. The visor works great. However, I note that the little round screw that holds the visor in place had fallen out at some point. It is remotely possible that this occurred when I crashed.Overall, I like Bell Helmets.

Good, but could be better, labeled as a Woman's
The helmet itself seems great so far. I've been using it almost a month and ride 2-3 times a week, weather permitting here in the Houston area. The knob to tighten the band works great one handed, even with my gloves on. The lining pads are held in with velcro and you can remove them to wash them. I had a long ride and they were soaked and I want to try to rinse them every few rides so they don't get too funky. I just rinsed them in warm water, let them dry and attached them to the helmet. My other helmet is one of the Bells that is just round and didn't have a visor. I don't have any others to compare the function to, but the visor on this one works well enough for me.I was pretty excited about the camera mount and didn't realize it came with it, I think I read another review that it was a separate purchase. Well, I setup my camera on it and it takes only a slight bump to knock it off the helmet. It just wouldn't work for me or where I ride as there are many branches that I often have to use my helmet to block so they don't slap me in the face.My only other complaint about the helmet is that in the very front where the little "sweat collector" pad velcros to the helmet in the front center, the side of the velcro tape that is supposed to be glued to the helmet came off with the little pad. I'll super glue it or something if I have to, but was able to get it to stick for now, but I haven't tried to separate them again, but it will probably come off again. My only other complaint is that the helmet was labeled as a woman's, but honestly, I don't give a darn, I love the color scheme. It fits well, I wear a size 7 or did years ago when I wore cowboy hats and fitted ball caps. I have only a little adjustment, so if you have a size 7 head but have lots of hair, you may want to go up a size. I have short hair. Also consider if you wear a helmet liner. It gets hot here and I'm going to be testing out that cooling gear once it warms up more.So far the ventilation seems good. I will try to update the review if anything changes, but for now, I think its a really good "bang for buck" helmet that comes with MIPS. Maybe you'll have better luck with the camera mount, but mine pops off too easy to risk losing my camera. I'll either strap it to the helmet or just wear the chest harness to film my rides...which would probably be better so the camera isn't getting smacked by branches.
