When I ordered this air cooler I did not know what to expect since the reviews are either very good or waste of moneyI guess people have to realize the seller did advertise this product as a PERSONAL air evaporator/cooler.Douhe air cooler is a miniature sized industrial air cooler. The idea is simple, a water reservoir that holds water that drips water slowly down the filter core. A fan push air through the filter core and the air is cooled by the evaporating water.I find this air cooler works really well during the hot summer night when I am by myself and don't want to turn on the central air just for one person. I use half water and half ice for the water tank. I place the cooler about a foot away and let it run on high while I use my laptop. With indoor temperature about 80F the air coming out of the air cooler reads between 65~70F after a few minutes with infrared thermometer gun. It is comfortable enough that I do not have to use additional fan. The water tank will last about 1~1.5 hour before I have to add more water. When the air temperature is higher than 90-95F then the cooling effect is minimal due the size of filter core. Outdoor use is limited too because even at high fan speed air pushing out of the unit is only a mild breeze.This air cooler will work as long as people understand it is a personal air cooler and not to expect it to work as good as a large size industrial air cooler/washer.

This thing is no more than a very low powered fan. The water sits on top in a compartment and does absolutely nothing. The description said something about pumps, so I thought it might have some sort of radiator-like design that blows the air through little pipes with cold water in them. But, no, it does nothing like that. I tried putting room temperature water in it, then replaced it with ice water to see if the water was actually somehow doing something. But, the air felt the same both times.

I don't often write reviews for items I purchase on Amazon, but on this occasion I feel I must. I was looking for a small AC Unit to help keep my son's bedroom cool. He only has enough room for a single bed and his desk. Whilst he's on his computer it can get quite hot in there so this items appears small enough and from the previous positive reviews it appeared it would also be cool enough too.It arrived yesterday and I was excited to get this thing up and running for him. It took about 2 seconds to set up and get running, I first tried the unit with cold water and placed it on his desk.That's when the disappointment set in, despite being on the max settings (3) you can barely feel the wind, it was like a small child blowing gently in your face and that's if you held your face to the unit. As soon as you backed away more than 2 feet you could no longer feel anything.We decided that maybe using Ice would help. It comes with an ice tray so you can make really small ice cubes that can be placed inside the water tray but that made no difference what so ever.Let me be blunt, this thing is useless. I don't know what all the other positive reviewers were smoking but it had to be something if the feel this thing is worth $40.In fact its not even good enough to be considered a desk FAN, I've purchased small computer desk fans for around $5 that have put out more air than this thing does.If you're looking for a small AC unit to cool a kids small bedroom STAY AWAY from this, its not worth your time or money.-Paul

This little air cooler does exactly what I expected. It cools the area directly in front of it. Think of it as Fan 2.0. It cannot cool an entire room and isn't intended to. It's supposed to cool your personal space and that's exactly what it does. As I type this, I have the cooler in front of me. It is being powered by a USB outlet on my PC. I had to turn the fan down from 3 to 2 because it's making my face cold. The cooler works well with just water and works extremely well when adding ice made in the included tray.UPDATE: I dropped my review from 5 to 3 stars because this unit has now leaked twice after being shut off. This seems to happen when I run it for a short time (around 10 minutes) but does not happen when it's run for longer periods (1 or 2 hours). Luckily, nothing was damaged since the top of my desk is waterproof and the water didn't flow toward a stack of nearby books. Still, I no longer trust this unit not to leak. A built-in tray to catch small amounts of surplus water would mitigate or even resolve the leakage issue. The design needs to be updated.

Received it, opened the box and smelled something gross. I took a look and the cooler and the handle was covered in green mold, black mold on the filter and still soggy like someone previously used it. I spent about half an hour cleaning it all up but when I went to plug it in, it doesnt even work. VERY frustrating and gross. Doesnt even deserve 1 star.

My ac went out in my car so I was looking for something just to keep somewhat “less sweaty”... this was not it. Inside the house it worked great, where it was already cool and not breezy at all. However, in my car where it was HOT and I needed to have the windows at the VERY least cracked, you couldn’t feel this blow at all. Also if this moves a LITTLE sideways, as I had it hanging, it shuts off. So if you are planning on getting it for that reason, don’t. It doesn’t help at all. The USB cord is also very short which is why it had to hang. Doesn’t reach to back seat. I went with the Ocular (spelling might be off) 8in clip fan... try that for this purpose!!

It is a nice little appliance but I had bigger expectations on it, so was a little disappointed that it doesn't cool more than just around your desk. It is nice to have a moist breeze on your face on a hot day, but the capacity is so small that you have to keep adding ice-cubes and water into it to keep it going. That's the reason I returned it. If you need a couple of hrs of cooling at your desk - go for it, but if you need more - don't expect much of this product.
