Will not work with threaded pipe!!!
I purchased this for a Delta spout replacement. The description and answers her and on Delta's site said it would work with my 1/2" threaded pipe because there is an adapter included. This faucet is metal so I wanted it. But it would not work with a threaded pipe. This is made for a slide mount (1/2 inch copper with no threads) stub must be at least 1 5/8" long out of the wall to work. Despite what Delta replies say it cannot work with any thread on pipe. Technically you could remove the inside plastic tube inside the spout to expose the threaded female end but that end is at the front of the spout so your stub would need to be about 6" out of the wall to fit. I called Delta and they said do not remove the plastic tube that this spout is not made to work with any threaded pipe. They suggested I purchase RP17453SS spout because it is made to work with 1/2" threaded pipe that comes an inch or so out of the wall. Unfortunately that one is plastic. Oh well. If you have slip pipe this is a great spout.

Horrible
Needed a replacement Delta tub slip-on spout with a diverter. Part was delivered in a unbranded white box. Spout was not in a bag, nor did it have any instructions for installation. It is huge, 7+", description is 5+". It is made of metal which is nice considering how many spouts are plastic. After applying the some lube to slip the diverted on the 1/2" copper pipe, it pushed to the wall and seemed very snug. Tightened the set screw on the bottom of the spout. All good right. To test the installation, turned on the faucet, pulled up the diverter and noticed the spout moved??? Confirmed the set screw was still tight. Pulled off the spout and inspected the inside. From what I can tell, the design will allow the metal portion (exterior) to move even if the interior is tightened.Called the Delta number and asked. The gal that helped me was surprised the spout was shipped in a non-branded box and without instructions. She also confirmed that the set screw should not allow the spout to spin. She encouraged me to return which I plan to.Maybe there is a work around, but it's not worth the trouble

Maybe it's just me...But
This spout was part of an upgrade to a Delta 600 series tub/shower. No instructions were provided so my first attempt at installation was to simply push the spout on the copper pipe and use the hex to tighten it. I could never get a tight fit after several attempts. It then occurred to me to simply remove (unscrew) that inside piece (no idea the name) and slide it on the pipe, using the hex screw to secure it. I then simply screwed the spout on and got a perfectly tight fit. I'm no plumber so keep that in mind... I'm pleased with the looks and quality.

First one arrived with the diverter pull broken off in shipping. Amazon quickly replaced it. The diverter never really sealed well, it would always drip when activated. Recently it would not seal well enough to turn on the shower head. I could place my hand under the spout to force the pressure up the shower head but now that doesn't work either. Have to pull and push the diverter switch while closing off the spout with my hand to get it to activate the shower head. Also have some corrosion forming on the top surface of the spout.

It is an actual 7 in spout so the water flows out directly over the drain.
...not running against the tub as the water flow tapers off or staining the tub if it drips. It was hard to find this - most standard spouts are 5+ a little inches long.I was able to use it as a screw on to a threaded pipe which was a good thing because I had called Delta to ask for the threaded equivalent of a 7 inch spout and THEY DON'T MAKE ONE. sheesh.

Spout leaks water past seal once deiverter for the showerhead is pulled.
I installed this spout using the slip on method with set screw. There are no directions included so I figured you slip the spout over the 1/2" copper stub coming out of the wall, tighten the set screw, and call it good. No good actually, as what seals water from flowing back past the copper pipe and into your shower wall is an o ring that seals up against the copper pipe. The o ring seals fine when the spout is being used as a tub spout but once the finial is raised to divert water to the shower head, pressure is raised and that pressure forces water past the o ring seal. I thought maybe I had a bad seal so I contacted Delta for a new seal. They were very prompt in getting back to my email and actually sent me a new spout, this one also without directions. It leaks also. OK I thought, maybe I had tightened the setscrew down too much and pierced the copper pipe. I just relaced the copper stub and sure enough, water is leaking past the seal. I chalk this up to a bad design as I've tried everything to make it work. My only option now is to solder on a threaded end to the copper stub and make sure my measurements are perfect enough that the spout ended up tight while still flush with the wall. The slip on plastic insert can be removed to expose standard female threads. To add insult to injury, the spout sprays out water with alot of spatter, not smoothly like what I expected out of an expensive name brand piece. My advice is to go with a different spout.

not up to delta standards
i bought this because i have always trusted the Delta brand. they stand behind their product. this faucet however has not held up. it has coroded beyond belief in a little over a year. the pull for the spout is stuck in the up position so i can only take showers

No problems with install
There are a couple of options for installation - use the slide-on insert with a shorter supply tube or the existing tube. I decided to change to a shorter supply tube and slide it on. Locks into place with a hex key (supplied). Works fine.

Make sure you know what you're ordering
When I finally got to installing, found out the spout wouldn't work as the threads for my old spout were flush with shower surround and this spout has a different attachment setup. Too bad they have such a short return policy.
