Shipping was fast but they don't work
I've downloaded the dallas libraries and the PDF for how to wire these. I have tried both parasite power and power to vdd with no luck. Nothing will detect an address on them. I tried without a resistor too just in case. Its the first piece of hardware to not work following a tutorial on arduino. Tried four of them. Not too positive(pun?) the other 6 will work at this point.Updating to 4 stars after helpful advice below.

Awesome little device
Awesome little device. You have to find the address of them first in order to utilize them, but once you do you can write code for multiple of them per one arduino and log temp data from several locations (outside, inside, fridge, garage...etc).

Genuine parts
These are genuine parts that work great, like they are supposed to.

Works great! Wonderful for Arduino projects.
I have had 100% success with these items from this buyer. Each and every one works the way it should, and they track one another to within 1/8 of a degree Celsius. They work perfectly with an Arduino and the OneWire library and sample code. Just be sure to get rid of the one statement in the code which checks the device type code byte. It's checking for a DS18S20, but the DS18B20 is a compatible superset of that older device's functionality.Go for it! Very accurate temperature readings in the range 0-85 deg C with one update per second and 4 binary digits of fraction. Faster updates are possible by sacrificing precision (number of significant bits returned from the measurement).I soldered wires to the device, then "potted" it in High Temperature RTV from Permatex. It's now waterproof, for use in sous-vide water bath control applications, etc.

Somewhat accurate but overheat on 5 volts
They are somewhat in the ballpark with accuracy but they overheat badly when used with 5 volts (no, I didn't hook them up backwards). They get so hot they burn my fingers to touch and the heat melted the plastic on the wire leads I had them attached to. They do not overheat when I use them on 3.3 volts. Just change the math on your sketch from .004882814 to .0032226563, i.e.,return (analogRead(pin) * .0032226563); // when you are using 3.3 volts./*5/1024 = .0048828143.3/1024 = .0032226563*/

Fully compatible.
Buying components on Amazon is a crapshoot. Many of us have been burned before. In this case, I needed them right away and was willing to take the risk. Turns out I was well rewarded. These are the real thing. Thank you!

Great Quality -- Totally Satisfied with the product
I was a little concerned buying these devices from an unknown source, but I received ten units and compared them all to a genuine Maxim/Dallas Semiconductor part and all 10 parts functioned and were within +/-0.2 degrees agreement with the Maxim part.

Using the DS18B29 sensor w Arduino
This sensor is really easy to use. There is an included library with the Arduino that will detect multiple sensors. I needed to water-proof this to make it a liquid sensor. I bought aluminum tubing stock and soldered the sensor to standard CAT-5 cable. Then filled the tube with silicone. After three days a leak developed, so I decided to repeat and instead of using silicone, I bought some fiberglass epoxy resin. This has been working flawlessly for three + weeks and is solid as a rock. Note: If you are going to have a long length of wire on the sensor, use the third connection for power. I have it connected with a 10' cable and it works great.
