Great Alarm for a Shed
I bought this to use in my backyard storage shed after a recent burglary and I really like it. It is loud, the strobe in a dark shed at night is very bright, and it is the single best stand alone device of this type that I have ever used. I read that a lot of people are having trouble arming and disarming this from a distance with the remote switch but mine works perfectly...to use the key fob switch correctly simply point your arm straight out at the sensor and hold the button down continuously, not just a quick tap, until the strobe light flashes once -- when I do this it works from 15 feet away every single time without fail. These units were NOT designed to be mounted low, but installed VERY HIGH, near the ceiling and out of reach, and angled downward slightly, so a burglar cannot tamper with it. And yes, this alarm SHOULD have a 15 second delay so the owner can have adequate time to disarm it before it goes off and wakes the neighbors up. Customers who want instant activation as an alert should use this device in the chime mode, not the alarm mode.UPDATE: So after a little more than a year the battery in the remote control key-fob wemt dead....I opened up the remote, took the 23A battery up to Walgreen's and was able to match it. Put the battery back in and the remote and alarm still work perfectly. Best alarm I have ever had.

simple concept that works
I have 4 of these throughout my house and in my garage and I think they are an ideal, but inexpensive, solution for peace of mind. I've owned them for about 4 or 5 years and all but one of them work flawlessly. I replaced the one that had intermintent problems with this one. Because of their simplicity, there really isn't too many ways they can malfunction and are very easy to set up -- once you understand the concept it takes no longer than the time it takes to install the batteries. When I first bought them I tried to permanently mount them somewhere -- but had so much trouble setting the sensor to just the right level so it would not trip if the cat or dog went past, I finally realized it was easier to put the unit on a table and mark where the base was positioned with tape so that the position would never change after changing batteries, etc.The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because although it looks identical to my other units, it is not -- and had wished the company had made some distinction between the models. This one is a stand-alone model, while the others that I own -- although also can be standalone -- were made to work in conjunction with a base alarm. That is, even if the alarm/sensor that got tripped was somehow disabled, the base alarm (which can be located quite a distance from the unit with the infrared detector -- e.g. I have two units in a detached garage, but keep the base alarm inside the house - at least 50' away - so I can hear it if it were to go off) will continue to sound -- like a back-up to the primary alarm. Unfortunately, because they are two different models I was not able to set the dip-switch to the same code as my other and will have to use two remotes when setting the alarms -- just a minor inconvenience.

Works, but not as sensitive as I needed.
Trying to get coverage in a 20' x 15' room with doors on opposite ends, well within the specs of the unit. It seems that it has a wide enough angle of sensitivity horizontally, but not vertically, so if you come in the door near the unit, it is possible to enter quite far into the room before setting it off. It's good enough, and does what it says well enough, and at a reasonable enough price, that I am just going to supplement with another of these to cover the areas by each door better.

Cool, easy, works well
I am very impressed with this security system. I installed it in 20 minutes. I have to admit I am using it in a very small apartment above the front door, but if that front door was kicked in or someone broke windows and entered that way it would definately go off. It is very loud and has a strobe light that would be intimidating for a burgular. At the very least it would wake me up in the middle of the night. The key chain commands are simple to understand and the lights are easy to see. There is no confusion about if you armed it or disarmed it. Also, it is wireless so it can be installed anywhere, does not give off warnings, has reasonable timing for alarms and exits, and would be difficult for a criminal to disarm (remove batteries or destroy?) Overall I recommend this product.
