Great for dip pens and quills
I bought this ink to use with dip pens. It works very well. It's thick, so quite a bit sticks to the nib and frequent dipping is not needed. The ink wrote consistently in one level of thickness, rather than the lines becoming thin very fast. A wonderful choice for dip pens and quills.

Good ink if you like ink on everything
Why did my teenager want India ink? Cause the neighbor gave him turkey feathers and apparently he lives in 1763 and he needed to write with quills. He is horrible at writing with a quill but the ink is waterproof. It’s laundry soap proof it’s pretty indestructible. It doesn’t come out of clothes it doesn’t come out of carpets. It doesn’t come off of anything. It dries fairly quickly, but he still covered everything in it because he did not understand how ink works. He said it’s horrible and why would he use it? It does exactly what it’s supposed to. If he were not going into mechanics perhaps an artist it would be great. Word of warning keep the feathers away from 16 year-old.

India Ink
I had time only to test the ink (rather than to work on any projects) but it is, as advertised, waterproof India Ink. Tried it with several dip pens and it seems very good quality.

I kinda like it, but...
It is water resistant, and maybe waterproof if you wait long enough and let the layers of waterpaint or ink paint dry inbetween layers. If you try to paint 20minutes after you put it down with water paint it has a 50% chance of smearing if you use to much water or you had used to much ink when doing line work. My only problem was using this with my glass dip pen. It's to thick to come off the glass dip pen correctly (For my pen at least every glass pen is different) So I had to dilute my ink with water to get it to flow somewhat correctly. So I can't just use it right out the bottle I need to find the right consistency for my dip pen for it to flow and sometimes I get it a little to thin. I do like it, I'll use up my 2 oz because it is indeed good ink. pros- black before thinning out so you can get an array of blacks to grays for ink drawings. it is in fact water resistant. -it's not it is sealed with a tab so it doesn't spill out when you recieve it. cons- can be to thick for glass dip pens -completely to thick if using a glass dip pen you will need a brush (i use a eyeshadow make up brush) to clean the crevices of your glass pen because this ink loves to holy snickers stick in the grooves. if you forget to buy the cleaner or your out of it, just use dish soap and vinegar mixer, it cleans your hands and glass dip pen pretty well. The only reason i'm giving this 4 stars is because of I have to spend 10 minutes trying to get the right consistency for a glass dip pen. You get pretty good ink for the price you pay. Just be aware this ink doesn't seem to work with glass pens well unless you dilute it. I don't own a metal dip pen so I don't know if it works well with the metal ones edit: For the love of everything holy and unholy, do not use this with glass pens, don't even use it for anything but brush stuff. What I thought was water resistant is definately not. ohhh the water smudges when I went back some month old art I made with this ink to add a bit of that cool ink with gold speckles in it that came with my glass pen. If you want to use this ink, use it with their brand name dip pens. I'll still give it 4 stars since it did not say it was for glass dip pens. but it is NOT WATER PROOF OR WATER RESISTANT don't ruin your artwork like me

GREAT DENSE COLOR
I've recently become fascinated with fountain pens and the ink you use with them. I used this ink with my Speedball pen, and my dip pen, and it makes the most beautiful marks on my paper. It is a very dark ink, and it's so fun to play with!

I ink I can, I ink I can, I ink I can....
As a sort of arts and crafts kind of person, I'm always looking for good materials. I bought this originally because I have a fondness for fountain pens. I have several dozen, from the cartridge style to the dipping calligraphy style and use this ink exclusively. It dries relatively rapidly, though if you use a thick line, you'll want to use a blotter before putting anything on top of what you wrote. It flows relatively evenly and smoothly. And it's permanent once it's dried. But it's the versatility and overall quality of the ink that makes it a five star item in my book. I've used this on paper, parchment, wood, leather and many other porous surfaces and have never been disappointed by its quality or durability. It doesn't appear to fade at all. It will even stay in place when varnished over for a higher gloss (I've used tung oil and leather varnish over it). On cloth, be aware, this stuff will NOT wash out. (I wear a lot of black.) But each application returns the same reliable results. It goes on, dries fast, and seems to last forever. A little goes a very long way, too. It only sticks permanently to porous surfaces, though, so it'll come off anything it's spilled on that is non-porous using rubbing alcohol and some patience. I bought about three of these a few years ago and have just gotten my next three. For the price, versatility and convenience, not to mention quality, it just can't be beat.

Trust this ink
I feel I can trust anything from speedball. I bought this ink for line work on paper. The color was opaque enough and a great quality.

Excellent ink. No feathering even on cheap absorbent copy paper. As with all India inks, DO NOT USE IN FOUNTAIN PENS, it WILL clog. This ink is made for dip pens. My only complaint would be that due to the nature of this ink and the bottle, the lid can sometimes be very hard to open. It can also leak a lot. So be sure to keep it upright and try not to leave the lid area wet with ink. Can take quite some time to dry. I've found this ink to be very dark, slightly darker than sumi ink.

Absolutely amazing ink for copperplate calligraphy. It offers an appropriate amount of viscosity and is thicker than other inks. Very good for dip pens (nibs and glass both)

This speedball ink is relatively viscous than the Noodler’s waterproof version. Thus the ink flow is more and look thicker than using Noodler’s (did a test comparison but did not take picture of it). Importantly, it is waterproof as claimed and the thicker line due to relative viscosity does not bother me. PS: the ink is not suitable for fountain pen used. It will clog the fountain pen nib.
