This is how to load your gun
I like this product, now that I have finally figured out how to use it. Here is how you do it:1. If you're holding the gun in your hand, there is a little white plastic piece that sticks out. Turn it so that it sticks out (horizontally).2. The needle is in a protective case, on the cord. Squeeze the trigger while putting the needle on the sharp pointy thing that sticks out (which I thought for a long time was the needle).3. Turn the little plastic thing vertical. It has to be in this position in order for the needle to be placed in the gun.4. Remove the needle cover.5. Load the barbs into the top. The side of the barbs that has the extra ridge fits into the top of the gun. I thought I heard a slight click after that. The barbs will just stick out of the top until they are used.6. Pierce the two pieces you want to attach with the needle and squeeze the trigger. Done!I hope that makes sense and helps at least a little.

Great low cost option for consigners
I purchased this tagging gun to tag about a hundred items for a consignment sale. I love that it came with so many extra barbs. The price can't be beat. There are no instructions on how to load and use the gun, but it really wasn't rocket science. You load the barbs into the top of the gun (you'll see an indent where the back of the tag strip will fit - it only fits one way). Push them down until they stop. Pierce the two items you wish to tag together (in my case, clothing and a paper label) and push the material all the way to the base of the needle. Then, pull the trigger FIRMLY and you should have it tagged. My gun got jammed a couple of times, but it wasn't a big deal. I just yanked the tag out of the gun and tried again. The needle is a bit large - I tagged on the seams inside of sleeves, so as to not mess up any of the actual clothing.Four stars because it's a cheap, simple gun - but works just fine for moderate use!

Bought for a kids consignment sale
I have tagged over a hundred items with it and am currently working my way through my second hundred for another sale. Yeah, it didn't come with instructions. Yeah, I had no idea how to use one when I bought it. But there are some very good YouTube videos out there that very clearly explain how to use one and the price was right and it came with 1000 barbs. I had no problem using this and I am very pleased how quickly I got my stuff tagged. I give it a solid 4 due to coming with dull needles (good for not bleeding on your first mishap I guess) and it's lack of quality craftsmanship, but I got exactly what I paid for and am satisfied with it.

Helps to separate barbs at top before using
I found the "This is how to load your gun" comment really helpful. I would just clarify that when you move the white plastic piece into horizontal position, point it so it sticks out in front of the gun like a barrel would. The barbs are flimsy, as someone mentioned, but good for my delicate art project. They are joined at the top, however, and need to be separated. If you wait to separate them after you have already tagged two things together, the you may end up breaking the barb or hurting the pieces you just connected.I took a manicure scissors and cut the connection between all the barbs prior to using them. I just do one batch at a time. Tedious, but the barbs were free! And it works.

Highly reccommend
I read a lot of review before purchasing this gun. I was worried that I would have some trouble with it, but it was great. I thought I may need to come back and read some of the reviews with instructions again once it came time to use it, but it was not hard at all to attach the needle that is hanging from the gun on the black string, slide the tags into the gun until you hear a little click and get started. The needle is a bit large, but the tag has to run through the middle, so not sure you can find a smaller one. I just tagged in seams and on tags so as not to ruin any clothing. I bought it for a baby and kids sale we were selling in and am so glad I did in stead of safety pinning tags on everything!

Generally works well
It takes a couple minutes to figure out by looking it over. I didn't find it to be difficult. The needle slides on and locks in place with the plastic screw on the side. The tag hangers slide into the top. I have tagged 150-200 items at this point and it works well. Every once in awhile it seems like the tag hanger does not get shoved down the barrel of the needle as far as it should and is difficult to get out, but it does not occur often.

Works great, but no instructions
The gun works well, but it's weird that it comes with absolutely no instructions at all. If you don't know how to load one of these (or even how to put the needle in) you'll need to look at these Amazon reviews for instructions another reviewer wrote. I also found a great YouTube video that showed exactly how to put the needle in and load the barbs. Apart from the lack of instructions, no complaints. It works well and was a great price.

I'm one of those people who have a bad habit of ripping tags off of clothes before I decide if I'm keeping them or not. I love this for when I have already ripped the tags off of clothing but decide I want to return it. Especially comes in handy for those stores that the tags must be attached in order to return. Definitely a good purchase.
