This Machine is a BEAST
September 22, 2024 I assembled this machine on April 13, 2024 and started using it shortly thereafter. I bought it to replace my Echo SRM-225 which I have used since June 2013. I bought this particular EGO model after reading great reviews about it. Both devices are used solely at my home. As this is my first battery powered piece of lawn equipment, I wanted to see how it handled several concerns that I had upon making the switch from gasolene to battery power, the first being just how it handled generally. I have to say that it handles very well. It is noticeably lighter than my old Echo and significantly quieter. It does a very good job of cutting the grass in either standard trimming such as along a fence line as well as along mulched areas where I have to hold it upside down. As there are more mulched areas than regular in my yard this second position is important to me and the EGO does very well in both areas. I have to say however that the inverted position is a little more cumbersome to me, but not a deal breaker. The second concern was how the EGO would handle a roughly 920 square foot area beyond the back boundary of my yard that contains weeds alongside a farm field. I go back there several times each summer to clean up the area. The EGO is excellent in this wild service actually better than my gas-powered Echo. This machine really goes after it. There’s more than enough power. It did have some problems with some big (3/8” diameter) Queen Ann’s Lace that I encountered on my most recent time in the field, but for the most part it was up to the task. This is the service where it earned the “BEAST” moniker. The third concern dealt with the auto-feed feature of replacing the line. I’ve only had to do so once so far, but it worked slicker than snot. So much easier to replace than my old Echo ever was. My final concern was battery charge life. There’s more than enough charge in the battery to do my whole yard, including the wild area in the back to do everything on a single charge. It also only takes a short time to fully re-charge. I always do the trimming before running the mowers so when done I put the battery on charge while mowing. It’s always fully ready to go by the time I’m done mowing. I don’t need to keep it on charge when away from the garage. The battery holds the charge very well too. We’ve been having a drought, particularly over the last month or so and I’ve let it set for about 6 weeks. When I used it this past week there was more than enough charge to do the whole yard with no problem. I’m extremely happy with this machine.

BEST One So Far... Cordless Trimmer.
Overall out of the box it looks to be a great sturdy and light weight battery power string trimmer. Worthy of 5 stars. BUT... I have yet to test this out due to this was Black Friday item and now winter time, will have to wait until spring and summer. As of now I was able to check and or test out the battery and charger. Battery came partially charged about 20% to 40%. I decided to charge the battery to full charge thereby also testing the charger. The charger : At first plug in, both red and greed light simultaneously flashes ONCE (a good sign). Upon connecting the battery, the charger started to hum from silent to loud and started to smell like something is burning. ( I got nervous and disconnect and unlatched the battery and unplug from the outlet.). Back to reading the manual (still not clue). But my understanding was the cooling fan. Research some YouTube videos. Conjured up some courage to try again. Plugged in the charger and connect the battery. Same thing as stated earlier. Held my breath and left it connected and allow it to charge (supposedly). I made sure after 15 min. to check up on it just to make sure it had not started to catch fire or exploded. So far so good. After 1hr on the charger, went to check on it; press on the battery power button and the indicator light was solid on 4 bars and 5th bar was flashing (good sign I thought). After 1 and 1/2 hr went back to check again and Bam! battery was fully charged. BUT the charge still was humming, noise was not loud but you can still hear it. Conclusion was that the loud noise was the cooling fan working to cool the charger while it was charging. This needs to be clearly stated in the manual. Once battery was fully charged I decided to dry operating the trimmer, connect the battery and squeezed both levers and Bam!......IT works. Other than that, so far I have a working product/item. Can't wait until spring/summer. Finally : I recommend this. Update (December 2023) : Got a chance to test this item on my backyard in December month. This trimmer works and operation really as expected and better than others I have own. It has power. My backyard size is 30ft X 95ft. Did the whole backyard filled with dried and dead weeds (that was still standing, 6in to knee high) just fine without using anymore string. I did not even notice that the string was jammed but was able to finish my yard. (Note : Possibly string can be easily jammed or even ran out without even knowing it, only that the string got shorter or too short). The battery used was 2 bars to do my whole backyard. Good sign that one full charge can and will do my whole back yard.

Excellent, powerful tools!
Both tools are very powerful and well engineered, as is my Ego lawnmower. The blower has enough power to pile up wet leaves. Here. in the soggy Pacific North West, we have a huge Canadian (or Big Leaf Maple) cluster of trees in our yard. These leaves are about ten inches wide, and when they get wet it takes a lot to move them. This is the first non-gasoline blower I've used that is up to the task! The battery life on Ego power tools is terrific- I can mow my yard several times without a charge, and the batteries are interchangable. I also love the "no muss no fuss" nature of the electric tools-- no carburetor issues like my gas tools inevitabley had, and no need to mess with gasoline- just turn them on and go! Added Bonus: the blower doubles as a cannon when my Grandson is visiting- it'll shoot a tennis ball about twelve feet!

Powerful but heavy battery.
Disclaimer... I returned the product but yet the 4 stars because the product is good. The reason I had to return it was due to it being quite heavy and uncomfortable to use. Large people will be able to handle the blower easily but short people will definitely find it difficult to use. The weight distribution is bad which makes it uncomfortable. As for the power it is quite powerful (Leaf blower) I didn't try the string trimmer as I was going to return it back. The 2.5 capacity battery is still lighter than the 4 capacity but in comparison to other brands both are heavy.

I found the unit as a whole long The power is great. Others I had would take a bit to get up to speed. This one is like a corded one, speed to cut when you press the button. Over all sturdy. Don’t get a bigger battery as will be to heavy and not balanced.

SOOO nice not to have to deal with gasoline and oil. Charge lasts long enough to do entire yard (60' x 160') with several gardens/trees and fences to trim around.

My brother suggested this weed wacker and it didn’t disappoint. Powerful and seems to last as long as I need for my yard.
