Bass Hanon: 75 Exercises to Build Endurance and Flexibility for Bass Guitar Players Paperback – July 1, 2013

I said to my bass teacher, "You know how most piano teachers make you use the Hanon book for exercises? Well I wish they made one for the bass." He said there wasn't one, but one just popped up when I was looking for a Carol Kaye book. So, I bought it . I just looked at it today, when it came, and it is challenging for someone of my lack-of-skill level, but, like piano Hanon, I will take mastering it as a personal challenge. If you aren't familiar with the value of "Hanon, the Virtuoso Pianist"...find a piano teacher and ask about it and why it is so helpful to pianists.

This is a great bass book that will work on both hands with dexterity bit by bit and your ear will greatly improve. Take in little chunks at a time with a little bit of daily discipline you’re playing will improve like crazy! It’s a great book and I highly recommend it

That book is all i needed to strengthen my solo practice, great fingering exercise to strengthen my fingers and they're also so musical. I have a lot of great bass book but that book gave another approach to where i wanted to go. If you're learning to solo over chords changes, there are great exercises also.

I’ve been playing bass for a long time and decided that I need to up my game to play at a more professional level. This book will challenge the way you look at playing the instrument, and if you persevere it will mold you in to a truly agile and spirited bassist. I could not be happier with this purchase.

For those of you who are familiar with the original "Hanon Exercises" written for piano, you know that it is a progressive system of technique building exercises specifically for piano. I own another book titled Hanon for guitar. That book is just a transcription of the piano method put in tab form. It does not address issues specific to the guitar. This book, however, is written specifically for challenges one encounters on the bass. This is the book I wanted. Just like the original Hanon, be prepared to work from this book for years. It should live on your music stand.

Hanon is a set of exercises in scales etc. that carried over from piano (to my knowledge). They look simple but increase in difficulty, Classic training, but stick with them and you will develop an ear that no lead guitarist will leave you lagging! I still play bad, but have gotten farther along on these exercises than anything else. My wife used Hanon exercises on her piano and plays beautiful classic pieces. I was trading licks with our lead guitarist and they looked at me and said, "You have been doing some serious practicing!"

I'm a beginning bass player. This book is actually beyond my current skill level, but even working just one measure at a time I can see where this is not only building up my left hand dexterity and strength, It is correcting some bad habits I was already picking up.As a musician of many years, ( I'm not really a piano player, but I can do at least the first two exercises from the Hanon method for piano) I'm finding it to be indispensable to not only strengthening my fingers and building dexterity, but learning to make my fingering more efficient.

As a classical guitarist who dabbles in bass playing, I feel this bookis a real treasure. I highly recommend this book for serious bass players.In classical guitar there is a lot training in finger technique, and this book brings that organized approach to bass players. If you want finger strength and dexterity in your bass playing get this book and a metronome, you can’t go wrong.

Esercizi e ancora eserciziLe diteggiature delle prime pagine sono un po' ripetitive e noiose; in compenso la seconda parte dello studio offre dei consigli per migliorare l'espressività sullo strumento che trovo assai utili.Lo consiglierei a qualsiasi bassista, fosse anche per fare solo un poco di pratica ogni tanto.

Works perfectly for me! My hand hurts like hell sometimes but I can feel strength, dexterity and endurance growing by every hour I'm playing the exercises. And it's slightly more fun than paying scales.

This is a good set of exercises for electric bass. But it is not Hanon. I have used hanon for guitar and love the very distinct approach of arpegios over chord changes which Hanon gives - this does not do that. Instead there are a variety of types of exercises developing different skills.
