Shimano SH Cleat Speed-Sl Float Spre Spares

This is my second order of this product from this seller. I ordered here again because I believe these are REAL Shimano cleats, not knockoffs like I have tried so many times before. The last pair I got lasted four years; hopefully these will be the same.

A standard replacement part for Shimano road pedals.

It was what I expected. It arrived on time.

My beloved Time RXS pedals failed (cracked the composite body) and, driven by budget concerns, I bought Shimano 105 pedals some years ago. The 105s are definitely heavier but have lasted longer. The best part is Shimano's cleat design. My old cleats were worn beyond recognition yet there was no loss of performance. Clicking in remained positive; release was consistent; float was unaffected. These cleats also offer a lot of variation in placement and alignment. Not an issue to me; my preferred placement is neutral front-to-back, side-to-side, and rotationally on both pedals, but those with leg or foot issues or preferring a more rearward cleat position may find the 105s easier to dial in. Walking is relatively secure; covers are available but I've not found the need. The large heads on the mounting bolt add stiffness to the pedal-shoe interface but the 4 mm allen heads love to trap grit and debris that has to be picked out before the bolts can be removed. Tip: I use marine-grade anti-seize on nearly all bike fasteners, including my pedal cleat bolts. Overall I like the performance of my Shimano pedals and love the performance of my Shimano cleats.

I used two bolt mountain cleats for years. Decided to switch to these three bolt cleats because of hot spots which also meant buying new shoes and pedals. Expensive! Overall, I’m glad I made the switch because the 3 bolt system is much more comfortable when riding. However, there are trade-offs. The 2 bolt cleats are really forgiving of mud and ice; the 3 bolt cleats are not. The 2 bolt cleats are pretty easy to walk in; the 3 bolt cleats are awful to walk in. You definitely need the cleat covers because 1) they make it possible to walk, and 2) they slow down the wear…and wear they will. I went through 2 sets of these in 3 months before I found the covers! These are plastic while the 2 bolt system is metal. So, on the bike these are nearly perfect, but walking, weather, and wear may drive you nuts.

Great shimano workmanship. I use them mostly for cycling to work with. I have used these a couple of days each week for about three months now and they don’t show hardly any sign of wear. One trip I unfortunately slashed a tyre 4 miles from home and had to complete the long and lonely walk home, the cleats were comfortable and again did not show much sign of wear. I would highly recommend these. Don’t buy cheaper imitations, you get what you pay for, but these are a fantastic item and a reasonable price
