Hello, Thank you for your interest! To change the height of the arms you will need to loosen the bolt of the arms and retighten at your desired position. We also recommend removing the monitors with the easily removable VESA plate. Thank you,

Q: How wide is the mounting clamp on the foot of the stand?

four inches wide and 2 1/4 inches deep. The screws are wide so you will need an extra 1/2 inch on all three sides to be able to tighten them. It would be possible to use regular screws pushing against a plate. The kit also comes with gear to drill through the desk instead of the mounting clamp.
