Poor Quality Control Didn't work
When the module arrived, I checked it over, and noticed that the Oscillator that was soldered onto the board appeared to be shorted out as it was badly soldered and sharp. I plugged the device in anyway, expecting to hear the computer recognizing the device which didn't happen. I then resolved the oscillator short and tried again. This time the computer recognized the device as a serial to USB converter but anything more than that was a failure, when a SIM card was installed it didn't start to flash the LED or anything. It looks like its been soldered with a wooden stick not any soldering equipment. It didn't work, and has been returned.

Very good for the price
Using it for mqtt Sets up well with ppp speed a little slower than expected. All in all works well

I was about to give up on this product, untill I stumbled on a random forum post online, where someone mentioned that this chip will not be properly powered, when plugged directly into any usb-port on for example a motherboard, a Raspberry Pi or similar. I then tried plugging it into a powered USB-hub connected to my PC, and voila - works wonderfully now! So to any potential buyers, be sure that you can plug it into a USB-port with enough output power, an ordinary plug on a motherboard is not adequate.

Unfortunately I received a defective unit. I believe several SMD 0603 components are mixed up. I've compared my unit with the product pictures and also had a look at the designators on the silkscreen of the PCB. More is not always better, my PCBA has 2 LEDs mounted. One that is mounted where a resistor should be. Of course none of them works :) Also I found one resistor where a capacitor should be mounted. Also, the description says "Support 2G 3G 4G Network" but as far as I can tell this product only support 2G. I signed up for a 3G only SIM contract to use with this and that was a complete waste of my money.
