This is a great camping lighter - We purchased it for our survival kit. It works really well. It's small, very compact. Rubberized on the outside to make it easier to hold on to. It's a great emergency lighter! Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. All of my reviews reflect my honest, personal experience with the reviewed item - your experience may be different. I am not influenced by any outside source. For some reason our shopper ranks are no longer visible - so, to give you a little more info about me, I am a top 50 reviewer (#30 the highest rank achieved). Those numbers used to fluctuate over time - up and down but I noticed that they stopped updating regularly - perhaps to phase them out. It's a shame because it did help you see who has been around the longest and who is a trustworthy reviewer. I've been doing reviews for over 25 years with Amazon - over 6,000 reviews posted, those reviews have been viewed well over 50,000 times, including over 24,000 likes. Bottom line, I pay for all my stuff, just like you do.

1. There is no flame, obviously. So there is no ignition source up high that floats like the plasma of the flame. You know what I mean? Whatever youre igniting you have to be able to fit between the electrodes, you cant just get close and above. And its a pretty small gap, too.2. And because of the lid, its impossible to stick the device inside of tight spaces like the mouth of a candle, in case your wicks are down low. So the bulk of the device and its lid just get in the way.All that said, it works. And it works quite well, too. I like the device and do not regret purchasing it. I think it was made well, in the sense that it is sturdy and quality-made. I just wasnt expecting some of its limitations, which are more design-phase problems that would have been found polling consumers. Ended up buying another different device in addition. They each have their appropriate uses.

This is the second one I've purchased I lost my first one.. Lighter works great and charge lasts longer than you would think. It comes in a nice box if you want to gift one to someone. Shipping was fast.

Cool gizmo and works great

This is a great little lighter. Seems to hold a charge for a decent amount of time, does a good job at lighting tinder, not as good as a direct flame but still works well.I have sadly been on this island for 13 days now with nothing but this lighter, a gps, and a hatchet to start. My only surviving colleague from our crash had his ears blown out so the only thing hd can hear is the hum of this lighter. The cannibals keep trying to take over, and the UV the lighter emits seems to help, but not completely deter.I built a fire with it last night to roast some freshly caught fish, and a strange three legged woman came out from the woods to sit by the fire. She brought me berries. This lighter made all of this possible.

The lighter was okay. It has some good battery life, and works okay on campouts. The reason I don’t full like this product is because of how small and inconvenient the arc of the plasma is. The charging is okay, but it isn’t as good when camping.
