Tell Me No Lies

Great book that goes into the phases of relationships. If partners are willing to work with each phase, the relationship can deepen. The honeymoon phase will not last forever, and Ellyn Bader guides couples through what is occurring (or what to expect) and how to address it. We easily fall into 'little lies' to maintain harmony or avoid tough discussions. The reality is that such behavior creates distance and can lead to more difficulties, in my experience. She clearly spells this out. And offers acceptance of differences as a compassionate and necessary component to a lasting relationship. A lot of examples that may or may not fit, but follow the theme of the teaching in this book and any relationship can benefit.

I'm the liar in this situation reading the book trying to get a better outlook on why I have gone out of my way it seems to hide the truth from my family and friends at times. There is a lot of great views from a variety of standpoints in this book. It has made me look at me and my faults in a way that doesn't make me feel like total crap about the pain i caused my family ( i feel like crap just the read doesn't press it ). If your getting lied to or lying reading this will help you understand how both sides can help make a change. Then it's all on wisdom and courage to actually change from there. I said in title this book sucks cause it was hard to look inside myself and without being defensive just accept this s*** was all my fault.

Excellent. The part about the lie invitee was a little challenging because naturally we are all going to be upset about something from time to time. I do see the point that someone will be more inclined to lie if they think the truth will bring hell on earth haha but there are going to be things we disagree on or make us uncomfortable. This book is great though, I love the delivery of this information. I laughed out loud a few times and realized holy crap... I'm not quite as honest as I thought. I'm definitely not a compulsive liar but more a loophole or a liar by omission.

An interesting read. Some good insights and allows for self realization. Like many of these books, the basic information is self awareness of the problems and acceptance of certain issues. It was well presented and an easy read. Worth reading and thinking about to help understand issues and concerns. I found it helpful and well written.

This is a primer for all those in a committed relationship, married or not. Learning the developmental stages that are a part of all relationships is key to creating coping strategies when you reach the “pick up your socks” stage. As a hypnotherapist I’ve recommended this book to many clients. A great read!

This a great book for people that have a really hard time with lying. I wish I could have read this book years ago and maybe I could have confronted alot more issue head on instead lying my way through life which created more lies. If you are a habitual liar this book is great to read or if you have hurt someone through lying. BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE - Ghandi

Ellyn Bader provides a wonderful and insightful look at the different ways that lies affects all relationships, with a particular focus on couples. Many different types of lies and reasons for lying allow the reader to conceptualize that there are usually two sides to this behavior and reasons behind each lie that is told. A brilliant book!

Good but slow read

What a great book describing the phases of a marriage and how easy it is to slip into ways that do not encourage full sharing!

Give helpful tips for communicationg and listening in difficult conversations . I would recommend this book to improve all types of communication
