Don't waste your money!!!
I have had two of these... They seem to ONLY last for the ~1 year of warranty. Additionally, it is REALLY hard to find anyone who will work on these. Mine just stopped making ice again (purchased new on 11/7/2024). So, I'm out of luck again. Personally, save your money and by some sort of less-expensive counter-top ice maker. These COST WAY TOO much for the quality and longevity they provide.

The BEST ice on the planet
Seriously. This ice machine makes THE BEST ice you can imagine. We actually purchased another ice maker for our game room/bar and after a week of being disappointed, we sold it at a garage sale and invested in the Scotsman. We have been completely remodeling our house for the last 9 months and this is the best purchase we have made. No joke. We don't even use the ice maker in our brand new GE fridge anymore. Nothing compares to Scotsman top hat ice.

Loud but solid ice (get a timed outlet)
Just upgraded from 20 year old Scotsman. This was much louder. In a quiet room I was sitting next to it when it kicked on and it made me jump like an air raid siren (pump whirr). Installed a smart outlet so it only runs at night and all is well. Lovely ice though.

Horrible machine
This machine being from a company who produces commercial units just makes its design all the more confusing. It is basically impossible to clean properly, support is horrible, and if you filter your water, you'll waste quite a bit of water producing ice. So, let's dive in. The way this machine works, your inlet water hose goes from the rear of the unit to a valve at the front of the unit, even though that makes no sense. The valve at the front has a length of hose that is much larger diameter than the inlet, so slower moving, and crud builds up on this hose if your water is not filtered. It's difficult to replace or clean. When the valve is open, water dumps into the top of the unit in an inaccessible area and slowly drips down into a reservoir below; the reason for this is to warm the platform during the harvest cycle (warming up so the cubes fall out). Water in the reservoir goes into basically a small sump pump that sits in the water, up a 90 degree + 90 degree tube, into a sealed plastic chamber and out through six spray nozzles. The spray mist is shot upwards into freezing cups where it slowly adheres, freezes, and forms a nice cube. When the freeze cycle completes, a valve opens allowing hot compressor gasses to go back into this top area to warm up and drop the cubes. What's wrong with all this? So besides the water supply line being uncleanable, next is this freeze 'platen' hidden away in the top of the unit. To clean it, you have to remove the entire unit from your cabinet, remove the rear panel, and then the top panel. With the panels off, you can clean the area where the water inlet leaks water, and attempt to clean the platen. The issue though is that the super chilled gas from the compressor is routed into a long array of very small tinned copper pipes that connect to the ice forms. There is simply NO way to clean under and around this mess, and mold builds up here. So basically you end up with a nasty moldy ice machine like you see on Restaurant Nightmares, but unlike those which are lack of cleaning, this one can't be cleaned. Next, on the underside, very difficult to disassemble the machine to get into all the hoses and chambers where water sits. You have to use a screw driver to open up the spraying platform. You have to have small hands and good strength to wrestle off the 90+90 degree hose that supplies the spray platform. The pump is not possible to clean, because it can't be removed due to it being attached to a motor and fan on the rear outside of the unit. So it will just build up nasty gunk that will never be removed. Finally, this unit detects when the water level is appropriate by electrical conductance, which requires inpurities. If you feed it highly filtered water, such as reverse osmosis, it won't work. If you feed it filtered water, and you then call in about excessive mold, they'll tell you you should not feed it filtered water because that removes the chlorine. So basically Scotsman is relying on chlorine in your city water to keep mold from growing. This thing has been a cleaning and maintenance disaster for me.
