Solid hardware that works well
I got tired of constantly plugging and unplugging HDMI cables for different devices I wanted hooked up to my computer monitor. So went looking for an HDMI switch that would do the trick. Initially I thought I would be relegated to the extremely cheap devices that I've seen in the past but lo and behold Amazon released a device under their AmazonBasics brand. I've had really good luck with various cables I've purchased under this brand so I knew they weren't skimping on quality. Just not charging an arm and a leg for their product. The device came in typical no-frills Amazon packaging. Which was easily opened with my handy Swiss army knife. The device itself comes in a very solid feeling metal enclosure. It has a remote control which came without a batter, and a usb to dc 5v cable for external power. The LED lights are RED (thank you!!!! blue hurts my eyes). There's a single "selection" button on the front that cycles through the connections in-order. So I can leave it on my computer desk and just push the button instead of having to find a batter for the remote and then not lose the remote. All the HDMI cables plug into the back so you don't have a cable mess dangling off the front. The picture quality from my various devices is just as sharp as a direct HDMI connection. So I am pleased. Part of me wishes the remote came with a battery, but honestly I just don't need to use the remote right now.

Great gadget to expand the options for a smart TV with only a single HDMI
We bought a Phillips Roku Smart TV, adn have been happy with it except for one small thing: it only had a single HDMI. We originally bought a 3 port hub, but it stopped working and was difficult to select between devices. ORdered this little gem, it arrived quickly, and has been great. Solid construction, and the ability to add up to 5 total devices has been great since we have a set-top box, HDD-DVR, Blu Ray, XBox 360, and a Nintendo Switch. Easily allows us to switch between them with the remote while keeping them all connected and ready to go. Would definitely recommend this if you need to expand or simplify your HDMI setup.

Works
I had another HDMI switch and after a year it took a crap. I decided rather than buy the same one, I'd try a new one. I like the Amazon brand. They are simple and last. I figured this would be the same. So I got this all set up and nothing. PS3, PS4, Computer....nada. I thought it was the HDMI cable because the instructions said it needs to be no longer than 10 ft. My cable runs through the wall up to the mounted TV so it's at least 25 ft long. I was about ready to re wire the whole thing with a shorter HDMI and thought, maybe it's the input port in the TV. So I switched the HDMI to plug into another one in the TV. Nope. Another one. Nope. Finally I thought I'd try the 4k input and voila! So this switch will only work with 4k input. Not a big deal, I just had the 4K input dedicated to something else so I just plugged that into this switch. The only downside is now I have an extra thing which I didn't anticipate plugging into this, so I have a sixth one that I have to switch out when I want to use it. Not that big of an issue. I hardly use it anyway. The one thing I do love about this switch is it doesn't automatically sense input and change on its own. That really bugged me about the old one. I'd be playing PS4 and it would periodically blank out for about 5 seconds because I had the computer on at the same time. It was so annoying. So the fact this one doesn't do that, it's a HUGE plus. It's nice that you can switch using the remote or if you can't find it (because it's stuck between the cushions) you can switch it manually. It's sturdy, well made and works as intended. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the 4k thing. If it worked with either kind of HDMI input I'd give it 5. Hopefully it lasts longer than the last one. As a side note, I used a label maker to label the inputs on the remote so anyone (namely my husband) can pick it up and know which number controls which device. Makes it a little easier to switch. Especially if you have multiple gaming consoles hooked up and you can't remember which one is which.

Great design for home arcade. Works just as you'd expect. Best price to quality ratio out there!
There is not a cheaper 5-port HDMI switch out there as of this review. The price is incredible, especially if you get an Amazon Warehouse one to knock a few extra bucks off. It works even without the power adapter, remote and all. CR2032 batteries are not included, but you can get a 2 pack at famous dollar store that's name ends with tree. I love that all of the ports are in the back, even the output, so that I can route all my cables cleanly around the back of my home arcade.
