The Most Perfect Pruners I've Ever Used
Best purchase I've made for gardening, bar none. So easy to hold and use, even with my small hands and rheumatoid arthritis. They are very sharp, and haven't dulled with use so far. I am able to cut through branches up to 3/4 of an inch thick with ease, and even thicker, if I use a bit of a twisting motion to get the blade to cut from more than one side. They feel strong and sturdy, as though I'll be able to count on them for a many years to come, and I like the locking mechanism a lot. The cutting action is smooth, precise, very strong, and never sticks. After going through at least a half dozen different pruners over the years, and finding them all lacking in one area or another, these are a joy to use.

A practical tool that’s well-constructed and easy to use
These pruning shears were highly recommended by a well-known product review source. And I wasn't disappointed. I use them to cut the ends off fresh flowers, to trim back small bushes, and to cut out dead plants at the end of the season. They are lightweight but have a nice heft to them. The locking mechanism is very practical. This pruner has a quality feel and is comfortable to use. Very sharp, they do the job of cutting smoothly and well.

Great Pruning Shears
These are amazing pruning shears that you rarely have to sharpen. I don't think I've had to sharpen mine since I bought them, and I use them quite often for all my pruning needs. They are sharp and cut easily. I've used so many other more expensive pruning shears, and those don't seem to last as long as these.

Absolute LOVE - Comparison Video
Highlights of my Video Review: 1. I actually ordered both these Small ones and the XL ones because I couldn't decide which to get. I show the comparison in my video along with my old favorite, which is more of a traditional/standard pruner. 2. Several elderly gardeners who have been gardening most their lives actually introduced these to me and I was very skeptical - but after one use, I was totally sold and had to get my own set. 3. I've bought so many normal pruners throughout the years and never found ones that particularly wow'ed me until these. I love these. 4. Has some kind of springy action that really makes cutting a breeze 5. Easy, one handed operation - easy to flip the grip-lock just by wiping it against your leg or something. 6. Easy to take apart and sharpen - or...they open wide enough that you can do a quick sharpening job without even taking it apart 7. Has worked on live and dead branches just fine. Has outperformed anvil style pruners that claimed to be 5X more powerful than regular bypass pruners. Has outperformed all other pruners I've ever used. I've never used Felco pruners before though and I've heard those are the best on the market...those are out of my price range though and many reviewers have said that these are just as good with a better latch system. 8. These Small sized ones are perfect for my pocket so I can carry them around for all day gardening...and fit perfectly in my hand. I would recommend these for the ladies with small hands and the XL ones for men with large hands. 9. Made in Japan - Excellent Quality

You’re missing out!
These are top quality and make gardening so so enjoyable. The smaller size is perfect for my wife and very nimble for even a guy with average sized hands to use. On par with Swiss made pruners but at half the cost…excellent value. Makes a satisfying “clunk” when it cuts and the locking mechanism on the bottom of the handle makes it fast and easy to lock or unlock by brushing the lock up against your thigh. Also tried another Japanese brand but this one was just so much more ergonomic and cuts smoother. Has no issues with either brown/dry or green/fresh branches and makes a clean cut. The other brands struggled with green branches and kept getting twisted or bound. Also, multicolored handles are useful as red is easy to see during the day and white stands out at night so I’m less likely to misplace these. Excellent value…definitely picking up another one

Very Good Pruners, But Handle Could Be Better
Comparing these to Felco 6 pruners which I use, the handle on the Okatsune 101 is about 1 inch shorter. While the 7-inch size does feel good for my small hands (female, 5' 3"), I do wonder if the 103 model might have been a better fit. While I appreciate the sharpness of these pruners, as well as the locking mechanism, what I do not like is that the curvature of the handle does not conform to my hands (unlike the Felco). Also, the PVC-like coating on the handle makes for a slippery feeling, and does not give me a firm grip, i.e., it is not rubberized. For being at about half the price of the Felco, the Okatsune pruners are very compelling. With proper care, I am certain that they will perform well. But the handle is definitely one thing that can be improved.

High Quality
This appears to be the authenic Okatsune from Japan, as I compared it with the review photos. I cuts clean, quick, and without slipping to at least 5/8". I haven't tried thicker branches, but this was green hardwood (red dogwood). The spiral spring device works well and apparently doesn't jump off and get lost, like some of the other types of pruners.

I think I’ve purchased my last Felco pruners!
I have favored Felco secateurs for decades but decided to give these a try, and I’m a total convert! The cut is ultra precise and I love the weight and feel of it in my hands (I’m right-handed, but I tried cutting with my left hand and found it easy and comfortable to make precise cuts). I haven’t put these through the long-term use of my Felcos, but these feel and look very high quality. The Okatsune blade actually seems to resist stains and sap much better than my newest Felco, which is a total sap magnet. I sterilize both with rubbing alcohol every time I use them, but the Felco needs regularly requires additional cleaning to keep the blade from sticking due to sap. It also requires much more frequent sharpening than the Okatsune. I still use my Felcos, and love them, but it’s usually only when I’ve misplaced the Okatsune! SIZING: I was sure the small would be too small for my hands (I normally buy small/medium women’s gloves in the U.S., which I assumed would translate to at least medium or large in Japanese size), but I tried both and found the medium/large size to be less comfortable.

Excellent quality, I like the size of the shears. They're not overly large. The cut is comfortable. I just bought a second pair for someone. Would strongly recommend.
