I had a ceiling fan box pull out of its place. This product is designed for installing without further damage to your ceiling. It works great! The attachment screws are a little tricky to get at directly. I used a nut driver at first then a screw driver bit to finish and tighten. The metal reinforcement makes it real sturdy. I love that there are bolts with nuts to attach your light fixture. The nuts are nylon locknuts and will never come loose. Installs easily and fast. I highly reccomment this product.

I had an existing old plastic box shatter and needed a replacement that could fit within the existing hole in the ceiling. This box was excellent quality, the screws were a little difficult to drill into the joist but the end result was excellent. No trimming of the existing hole was necessary.

Was a bit hard to install because the screws have a hard time going into the stud and the angle is quite difficult. The screws and bolts are made of very hard metal that is resistant to stripping. I ended up using a 8mm hex socket to try and tighten the screws and it ruined my hex socket. Had to borrow a friend's 8mm and it started stripping that socket too!! Not happy about that, but overall it works well, very sturdy plastic that is holding up my ceiling fan.

This is a heavy duty electrical box. It secures well, and is easy to install. Would buy again.

Kind of surprised more companies don’t make a product like this. Perfect and easy solution compared to the other types of fan rated boxes. Now, I suppose I got a little lucky that the light I was replacing happened to be right next to a joist. But, even if I’d had to relocate it, this box would still prove to be an efficient time saver. Took one star away based on the knockouts. First, if you’re not familiar with this type of box, it’s not exactly self evident which portion of the tab needs to be broken off. A small edit to their instructions could fix that potential for confusion. Second, the knockouts could be designed a little better. It wasn’t incredibly difficult to remove the tabs. But it could be easier. Someone else suggested using a flathead screw driver and hammer. Which works pretty well. Beyond the above, this box is excellent. Installed in minutes, and is rock solid. My impact driver made quick work of the fasteners. If you don’t have an impact or drill/driver, it’ll take some elbow grease to get them sunk. I did have a brief hiccup, but it was my own fault. In short, when I secured it to the joist, the box ended up slightly recessed. For my application, that posed a problem. As the brackets typically mounted to a fan body are very flush to the ceiling. My solution was simple. Took another two nylon lock nuts (one on each bolt) and essentially used them as spacers. Worked perfectly. So maybe sharing that issue and solution will help someone in the future. Would definitely buy this product again!

These are amazing for knpcking out old bakelite round boxes and replacing them with something beefier. Much beefier. Super easy to install with impact. Everythings gotta be fan rated these days

Great invention, great product. Removed old ceiling light to install a new LED light with ceiling fan. Upon inspecting existing J-box, it was not sturdy and had a lot of 'play' (movement). Upon removing the existing J-box, see that it is not screwed into stud, but rather a metal canopy. Looking thru the hole, I can see a beam (stud) about 2 inches away. I did not want to crawl into the attic to extend or create a stud. Then I found this product which has 1 flat side that sits flush against the existing stud. That flat side and backside of the J-box is reinforced with a solid metal plate. This product saved me the hassle of going into the attic. The worst part and biggest repair job was enlarging the existing hole by 2 inches to reach that stud. Great product, great invention.

I wanted to install a ceiling fan but the original box was not rated for it. After removing the original one, which took some coaxing, I installed the new one with minimal fuss and without having to make any additional cuts on the drywall. Installing the fan afterwards was a breeze, and it stays firm and secure. Excellent product, solid build (thick plastic supported by a metal structure) and very easy to install - you just need to drive the 3 screws that come with it onto the side of the joist. The screws even come positioned so that you can screw them at an angle that allows the use of any power screwdriver.

old fan mount cracked (plastic), this one fits perfectly (4"), the 3 long screws pin the mount to the 2x4 very tightly and the back metal L bracket is the key. Fan mounted easily and felt very sturdy.
