Mksutary Nail Lamp
I bought this lamp as it was described as 48 watt and only cost £19.99. I’ve seen others that are twice that and so I wasn’t expecting much for that price. When I received the lamp I was a little surprised at the size of the box, it seemed a little small. When I opened it I checked the instructions first to see if it was listed as 48w and I had not been sent a mini lamp (which I saw when I was looking at this one) which is a much lower wattage. It was indeed a 48w and the reason it is smaller is that it has no enclosed bottom on it – the pictures did show this but I didn’t notice at the time of ordering. This made no difference to me as I don’t need it to be enclosed, in fact I think it is easier to use being open the way it is. I have included a photo of the underside of the lamp where you can see all the led lights which need to be over your nails for the lamp to cure gel or gel polish. The lamp also came with some fingerless gloves to protect your hands from the UV lamp should you wish to do so although I have never done this as my hands are not in the lamp for enough time for it to colour or damage my skin. It was nice that they had added this little extra though. The instructions are very basic but it is a pretty basic machine and it does the job really well. The lamp has various setting buttons on it – a 99 second option which heats up the lamp slowly so as not to cause heat spikes when curing builder gel (this is a great feature as it really hurts when the gel burns!) It also has a 60 second timer setting and a 30 second one – I use the 30 second one for base coat and colours and the 60 second one for builder gels, top coats and glitter polishes. It doesn’t have a 10 second setting but it doesn’t need it as when you put your hand under, it automatically comes on and starts curing so if you need to flash cure you can just do it without having to press any buttons, just take out your hand after 10 seconds – the timer will begin counting up when you put your hand in and count down when using the timer settings. I tested the lamp when I was doing my nails with polygel and some glitter gel polishes and it cured everything in 30 seconds. I do need to point out that the first time I used it I hadn’t pushed my hand in all the way and the gel polish crinkled, but this was not the fault of the lamp, it was because I hadn’t had it under the lights, my finger was underneath the control panel instead! (duh lol) I tested the polygel first with the 99 second timer and got no heat spike so I cured the next time with the 30 second timer and still got no heat spikes, but this does depend on the gel you use (usually the cheaper thick builder gels will get hot in my experience). I think this lamp is brilliant for the price, I almost paid double for another one and I’m glad I didn’t! It is very lightweight and takes up hardly any space which I love so I would definitely recommend it to someone who does their own nails at home. I think it would be great for doing toes too because it isn’t enclosed.
