Testing on windows - do not recommend!
I bought this mostly to test the SIM7000 chip as I'll be including it on another PCB design. This board is practically useless for this purpose, as the USB port cannot be used as a serial port, and so AT commands cannot be issued. The drivers are absolutely awful - they were written for Windws 7, and apparently never updated. The drivers are found on a random site in a .7z archive full of .rar archives. There is no installer, so you must find the right .inf file for each usb endpoint and hope does something useful - in my case, none were of any use. Additionally, the drivers broke the software that controls the fan speed in my PC, causing them to ramp up to 100% constantly. I then tried the pin header (you MUST solder a header to actually get the unit to start up, as the "PWR" pin must be briefly connected to VCC to turn the unit on. But the RX/TX pins do nothing except parrot whatever is sent to them. There is no response from the device except for this echo, no matter what command is issued. In short DO NOT BUY THIS!
