Very good Headset, but comfort should be improved
Good FOV, it's fun to play with. The comfort is unfortunately not so good. That should be improved. But you can also buy the COMFORT KIT.The PiTool, a program for the VR pimax, supports steam and oculus games. And it works perfect with my index controllers + base stations.

Terrible build quality and worse customer service - AVOID PIMAX
Having ordered my 8k+ last May (2020) I wasn’t quite so unlucky as some, as the unit and subsequent lighthouses arrived within a few weeks. Although I did end up paying extra in import taxes even though I had to pay tax in the Pimax store. I ended up paying $683 in import taxes for the HMD and index bundle + duty, which I still haven’t received back although Pimax did refund the $301 in tax I was charged in the Pimax store.I posted in the 8K+ forum as soon I got up and running and all was not well as I just couldn’t get the unit to perform as good as even my old Rift S; problems with IPD, sporadic tracking, poor visual clarity with high system resource use and then the final nail-in-the-coffin was the plastic hinge that holds the head-strap to the head-unit cracked meaning the HMD could no longer be used.I complained to Pimax right from the start about the various issues but once the hinge snapped I was no longer interested in keeping the head-unit. It took months to get anywhere with Pimax support, but I requested a return in July 20 and after promising to chase this up and get back to me, it was November before I heard back from them. Then they stated that I couldn’t return the unit for a refund even though it was not functioning correctly, but instead I could return it to them for a 50% coupon against a 8KX. I didn’t especially want this but was told to take it or leave it.So I swallowed my pride and sent it using Royal Mail to the address in France they asked me to (postage post-Brexit was a little eye-watering) paying extra for insurance just in case. It was labelled as a return of faulty goods. That was 5 Jan 21.Yesterday (3 Feb 21) I received a message from Pimax support saying that it was stuck in customs with a tax charge of €136 and that I had to contact the carrier to pay this charge! On a HMD that is being returned as faulty! Now I appreciate that the charge is most likely an error (assuming it’s real ofc) but the real issue here, I believe, is the taking of responsibility; lack of that is. The final kick in the teeth is the threat that they will allow the package to be returned to me and I will lose the 50% coupon.I am now resigned to the fact that I have lost ~$2200 all told to this shambles and quite frankly a shockingly immoral company. I took a leap of faith last year in investing in Pimax and really I should have looked first.

Good FOV, Dim washed out screens, good built in head tracker, bad distortion from 130-170 degrees
I really wanted to love this headset as it's a real first for the 170 degrees FOV, however in practice, I found little *real* noticeable difference between 'normal' 150 and 'wide' 170 as they are way out of view in peripheral vision anyway. The worst bit about the field of view thing was, unless I strapped the headset uncomfortably tight to my face with my eyes right up to the screen, the fresnel lenses were completely 'fish-bowl' inverted around the edge which was actually quite distracting. I've come to the conclusion that the Index at 130 FOV is better in both performance and subjective quality. The sense of 'being there' is marred by the low brightness and low contrast panels they have used in the headset. My original VIVE still gives the brightest and most vibrant image, closely followed by my Original Oculus rift. Playing 'face your fears' from the occulus store is basically not feasible as you can see almost nothing in the shadows. The built in gyro/magnetic 3-dof Head tracking works well if you only want to play sims and 'experiences' where hand tracking controllers are not required (Asetto Corsa, DCS, Fantasynth, EPIC showdown etc.) or if you are waiting patiently for the Pimax controllers to be finished. The software is a real cludge, having to hook into Oculus home to use their driver interface to play Robo Recall et al, and not everything works, and you keep having to remove the headset to start external apps using the pi-tool. Same goes for Vive Port and steam apps, which also hook into the oculus software for drivers. VIVE license games from steam. If you start up a game on Vive port infinity, it then goes through steam AND oculus home just to get started. so you end up with 4 task bar programs running just to start something. It's an utter mess tbh.The whole wide field of view is good, but nowhere near worth it for a £1000+ investment. The build of the unit is pretty cheap, flat edges and flimsy plastic, which altogether isn't great on an £800 headset.

Don't do it, honestly.
I thought I was paying for a top of the line, high quality all encompassing VR system that would take my flight sim game to the next level. What I found was that this plastic, low resolution, ill-equipped experiment is no where near ready to be commercialised. You might want to go for this if you're a rich developer, but for a general consumer such as myself I really would save your money and go buy something thats ready to go. The Pimax comes with nothing, no controllers, no motion stations, is heavy (for a VR set) and uncomfortable after a few minutes of staring at a poor resolution lunar space- as thats all you have unless you down load 3rd party software such as Steam VR.Honestly, I fell for the marketing hype, just don't make the same mistake....!Good luck!

DO NOT BUY FROM PIMAX
Do not buy this product. Will be the biggest waste of money you will spend. A scam of a company.

Amazing Resolution
I was expecting for this to be a bit "meh" but we were all really blown away by the wide FOV and resolution. It was like trying VR for the first time... again!
