Does the job
I had a very bad case of algae in my pond. I used just 12 lb of this as a test and it worked very well. I just bought another 100 lb to do the entire pond. I will follow up and let everyone know how it works but if the 12 lb bag was it representation of what I should get it I will be very happy. It got rid of all the algae and I can see to the bottom of the pond in the area that I treated. They also have very good technical customer support and are very quick to respond to questions

Best for algae
Works great on Chara, what my wife calls “curly weeds”, a type of algae that lies on the bottom. No more expensive than copper sulfate and works better.

Works well, but you have to use a LOT of it!
Found this works ok, but you REALLY have to lay it on, if you expect to kill the chara! Pretty expensive though!

Follow instructions for use.
If you follow the recommendations for use, Cutrine granulated algaecide is easy to use and gives predictableresults. A hand held spreader made distribution over the surface of my pond convenient. I applied two treatments, two weeks apart, just before spring. I use it as part of a program I came up with that also includes aeration, natural bacteria and the messy job of removal of excess detritus (actually, this method is pretty common). Cutrine jump-starts the process and the aeration and bacteria help metabolize the excess nutrients that result. Cutrine eventually breaks down in sunlight, therefore you may need to reapply it later in the season if you get a bloom. The key is being consistent. The downside is it can get a little expensive.

WHAt'S GOING ON?
I have a problem with filamentous algae in my farm pond. I have used a combination of liquid and granular Cuterine for 10 years on the advice of my County Agent with good results. Usually, a couple gallons of liquid and a couple bags of granules can keep my pond pretty and healthy all year. I use a heavy-duty agricultural sprayer for the liquid around the edges and a battery powered salt spreader from a boat for the granules on bottom growing algae in the deeper portion according to the recommended schedule and formulas. I also energetically rake all the floating algae nearly daily with a collection of specialized rakes. I have raked up about a dump truck full so far this spring. This spring I have gone through 7 gal. liquid and 8 bags of granules. My pond is a mess, even with my daily maintenance, and I have spent a great deal on chemicals. The pond has both a windmill powered aerator as well as an industrial electric aerator. I am convinced these guys have changed their formula, either to make more money off me, or they are just selling junk now. I am trying to find a new chemical/ system that works.

Bought this for my brother in New Jersey, after he told me of the problems he was having with the algae/ growth in his 3/4 acre pond. Seems that the label lists specific types of growth it is designed to control. I guess what was plaguing his pond wasn't one of those listed because even at the dispursal rate shown, it did not meet his expectations for algae control. Matter 'o fact, it didn't do much at all.+On the plus side; It was shipped in a timely manner at a reasonable rate.-As to the negatives; Be sure what you are trying to control/kill off and see if this product is designed for that growth, specifically, because "it ain't cheap"!A caviat; If it HAD lived up to our expectations it would have been worth the price and then some.

Algae Gone!
My 3/4 acre pond had filamentous algae floating around the edges and looked terrible. Our County Agent recommended Cutrine Plus and said to just to treat 1/4 of the pond at a time to avoid killing fish, turtles, frogs, etc. I was nervous using a chemical because I'm an environmentalist and rarely use chemicals. I sprinkled about one pound of Cutrine on the algae. Not much change. I sprinkled another pound a week later. Small improvement. I was thinking it wouldn't work and was afraid I'd have to get a $2500 aereator as a pond maintenance organization recommended. Another week passed and I was going to treat it agan. Lo and Behold....the algae was gone, my fish and turtles were fine and the frogs and tadpoles were too. And I'm happy because the pond is beautiful again.
