Go in with an open mind
Well written, with logical explanations and humor to keep it interesting. Thought provoking material if you remember to keep an open mind.

The creator gets a "C"
A warmly humorous if not especially scientific critique of intelligent design; spoiler alert, the creator barely earns a passing grade. He is described as an imbecile, stupid, flawed. and even evil. The authors examine the body, top to bottom, 67 parts with each earning a score from one to ten depending on efficiency and adaptation. We are compared to other species in digestion, immunology, lung capacity, vision, hearing, the ability to run, swim and climb, self-healing and regeneration.Body parts are assessed; the skull is protective, arms the right length as they allow for touching of the genitals (LOL). Other parts are deemed unnecessary such as spleen, appendix, gallbladder, sinus, and male nipples. And why are the testicles outside the body when they should have been created to do just fine at internal body temperature. Eyes, ears, hips, back, knees, teeth, cognitive abilities, these require whole industries to maintain reasonable functioning, optometry, podiatry, pediatrics and dentistry for example. And why do our taste buds prefer the stuff that isn't good for us, another example of unintelligent design. Too, there is prolonged and often dangerous pregnancy; (baby's head too large for vaginal opening, the possibility of fertilized egg attaching to other than uterus). And what about birth defects, childhood cancer, the slow pace of early learning and independence, extended and often painful later years. And there is the proximity of breathing tube with apparatus for eating and drinking (and the danger of choking). There is the proximity of sexual and elimination locations, more design flaws.Evolution (mutation and the ability to adapt to a changing environment) is not directly addressed here. However, the authors are clearly science rather than faith based, and readers will likely self-select to further confirm their own bias.Mental health is also addressed. It is estimated that 25% of the population have significant mental health issues including depression and sociopathy; the latter is diagnosed in part by lack of empathy and sense of humor. We as a species are described as prone to deception, insensitivity, selfishness, violence and even genocide; however, progress is noted. The importance of love is addressed, not just the romantic kind, but love for other animals, for nature, beauty, art and literature. The authors optimism for our species is based in part on our imagination, our curiosity, our respect for science over myth, (and even our opposable thumbs!).Well worth the time, an enjoyable and thought-provoking read.

Intelligent and Witty
Writing intelligently about the flaws of intelligent design is on its own, the makings of a good read. Throw in outlandish comparisons, references to current and historical events, sarcasm, witty comments and accurate observations and you have an enjoyable, thoughtful read. As I have always believed there was not much thought given to our design(who puts a sewage plant next to the playground) this work goes far beyond the obvious errors and identifies us as a product in need of serious revamping.

That's a bright spark
This is an irreverent discourse that takes us through almost every part of our body, beginning with hair, and ending with 'fankles' - foot and ankle. This self-published book is 189 pages long, and has good quality paperback cover and paper. The authors go through each body part and find faults in every one of them - even veins, which is the least informative or relevant topic, but they just could not leave it out. The problem with our eyes and ears are more to-the-point and relevant. This book just points out to what we often contemplate - why are we built this way and not that way. Why do we not have the eye of an eagle and the ears of a dog, for instance. Just a nice lazy afternoon read on the beach.

Funny
Not so intelligent criticism but fun to read.Man was not designed by any other than himself.....from just mud or matter it was every step of the way its choice that made up itself. It is only the conservative evangelical who won't read this because of the title, who complains about their design....they should, rather it should be read in their church.

Good, humorous read.
Body parts are rated on a one to ten scale, with the overall result. Done in a light hearted manner that will provide a chuckle and give one pause for thought.

Thought provoking
This book makes some great points, however, offers no science behind the claims. Definitely written for the layman, it nevertheless exposes some serious design errors if the reader accepts the design myth. The problem is, I expect everyone that reads this book is already under no delusions regarding the existence of a grand designer. Attempts at humor fall flat at times though a teenaged reader might disagree. I was hoping for more substance and less sarcasm even though I agree that the belief in superstitious legends and magical sky fairies is long overdue for extinction.

had to read it twice
very funny but poignant. Disrespectful and rightly so. It made me laugh out loud on many occassions. Not for the extremely religious reader

Easy to read. Informative. Comical
An enjoyable and easy to read book. If ever you thought that we're the product of perfect design ... then think again. The authors, in their often light and comical way, highilght the many imperfections of the human being ... and there are many of them. If you think that we're the product of a perfect designer, then this book will give you cause for concern. If you wish to be educated and amused, then this book will keep you entertained. A captive and enjoyable read.

Irreverent and very funny. No holds barred.
Well written and funny. Irreverent and thought provoking. Not for godly creationists.... The main theme being 'if God is so smart, why did s/he make such a terrible job of designing humans?'
