Q: Will this work for my 2001 Toyota Corolla LE? My current part has both exit tubes on the same side that's the difference I noticed.

I had the same situation as you where my 2000 toyota corolla started flipping a code (forgot the number). The valve had both outputs going on the same side and finding that exact model was a pain and ordering it from the dealer was not worth the cost. So I tried installing it and mounting it in the original mount area, it was too awkward to route the tubes that way as they were either too short or it would clamp up in the new awkward angle. So I just turned the module in a way that the outputs faced the tubes correctly and zip-tied the module onto the peice of metal the OEM module was originally on. Over a year has passed and I'm still driving the car on the highway with no code about the evap system.

Q: I was told there are two VSVs on the 2002 corolla. Is this the front one or the rear one?

I believe the 2002 model is the same as the 2000. Pre 2000 (1999 <) they used a 3 way system.On the 2000 there are 2 VSV, one is mounted on the rear edge of the aircleaner box, the other on the EVAP canister up near the rear wheel. This is the rear one. On my 2000 LE the OEM part had both vacuum ports facing the same way,down. Only 1 hose on the canister will reach this part. It is no big deal, just buy about a 10" piece of hose to replace the "U" shaped hose that will not reach.NOTE: Dorman 911-603 has both ports & plug UP, you need to change both short hoses. The electric end from the car is short, not much room to change orientation of the valve

Q: I have a Camry 2000 with a check engine light that won't go off. Can this fix it?

It fixed it for me, but the repair people diagnosed that it was bad - they wanted to replace the entire canister assembly - $300 for the part alone and only available from Toyota. I told them no, I'd live with the light. Checked the web, found this part and it matched. Replaced it and light is gone. I have a 2000 Camry LE. The light could be from other things, too, like the gas cap seal. Good luck!

Q: If this part isn’t working properly, will it cause smoking at crank up?

No i wont cause any smoking. this device is just a valve. Not unless you wiring it wrong which is impossible because it has its own socket. This part rarely brake and it will mostly last a lifetime.
