Best water timer for a single hose and 3 open/close time pairs
I've tried 4 different water timers over 19 years. This is the best. I set 2 of its 3 open/close times. The first time goes off about 5am. At 7am, as I go to work, I move the water sprinkler to another area. I repeat this routine most summer days. You can leave each of the 3 times set but tell the device to either activate on inactivate that time. You can activate watering immediately manually and turn the knob for the number of watering minutes -- much better than another timer that always ran for 15 minutes. I only have trouble getting accustomed to how I should reconnect the two halves after opening the device to change the battery -- but I only do that once a year in Spring. I bought 4 off these 2 years ago.

Easy to program Gardenia Water Timer
These timers from Gardenia are the most reliable and well-built units on the market. Very easy to program and they last for years if you remember to bring them in during freezing weather. I have some that are over 10 years old and still going strong.

Gardena Product Lead has Fallen
1. I have bought Gardena timers for over 20 years, because of their quality, durability, and programming simplicity. This product, the 1891 timer, is too complex for me to program, and too expensive for what it is. Their new Gardena models are very few and no longer meet my needs. 2. The seller, M+L are from Germany, and they are the worst seller I have ever dealt with on Amazon. They are the most non-responsive Amazon seller I have ever dealt with. Their first instruction was to ignore their return mailing label which was to an address in Germany. They stated the timers should be returned to their U.S. return address, but did not provide that address. After many email requests for the US address, they finally said they would email me the return mailing labels to their US address. But what I received was a return label which was a return to Germany !!, and it could only be picked up by DHL express; that they would arrange a pick up date/time, and that I would be charged for the return delivery cost to Germany. They also stated the return box had to remain open for DHL inspection before they accepted the return. DHL arrived unannounced and was unhappy the box was not sealed. They waited while I sealed the box. I purchased these two timers on June 29, 2021 and did not get refunded until August 2, 2021, which is over 1 month. That is not the Amazon Way. Beware of M+L sellers on Amazon.

Randomly refuses to follow schedule
Randomly refuses to follow its schedule. I’m baffled as to why. It seems well constructed, and I like the way that it’s programmed. But mine has fresh batteries, and as I said every now and then it just refuses to operate automatically based on its schedule.

Makkelijk programmeerbare besproeiingscomputer. Batterij van goede kwaliteit ( zelf kopen) gaat meerdere seizoenen mee ( mits deze in de winter uit de installatie wordt verwijderd). Lekt ook na meerdere seizoenen niet.

Slightly more than I wanted to pay, but proably the only timer that will water for two short periods during the night. It is so easy/simple to program that I didn't open the instructions and found it no problem at all. One comment about the display - if you hold it a particular angle to the light, all of the characters available on the screen can be seen, rather than just what you have selected. I want it for a low pressure misting/watering system, and the pressure reducer (Hozelock 7022) screws directly onto the bottom of the timer. Also, a couple of words of caution from bitter personal experience. Never attach any plastic gizmo bigger than a hose connector directly to a tap - one slight knock and it will crack. Fit a 3/4G adapter/male hose connector to the top and then use a short length of hose to connect to the tap with standard hose push connectors. I used about 4 feet of hose and the timer is hung from the wall a couple of feet from the tap and above it. Drain it for winter. Get a black plastic bag - a bit of a compost bag or one that has been used for a mail order delivery - cut an inch across one corner and fit the bag over the timer, the supply coming in via the cut corner. The timer should last many years not being exposed to the sun.
