So terrible, even terrible movie lovers can't enjoy it
I have removed this purchase from my video library, and wish I hadn't even watched it so I could get my money back. Holy hell. I love a good indie film, whether it's well-done, bad, or intentionally bad. I'm thinking this was unintentionally bad. The script is cringe-inducing, the props team clearly has no idea what the insides of humans is supposed to look like, and the actors made me feel dirty. You can make an a+ film on a shoestring budget. These guys chose not to. A bold choice. Let's see how it plays out.PS - Don't come at me with "hurrr some people only like jump scares and explosions." I absolutely adore films so bad they're good. I paid real, actual money dollars to own Bratz the movie, and I've watched it like fifty times. This is unenjoyable on every conceivable level.

A master class in film theory
Here's what I learned about filmmaking from watching Clownado:1. Every other shot should be a Dutch angle, whether or not it's appropriate or effective. Don't be timid - feel free to tilt that camera as much as 45° for no reason whatsoever. And flip the angle mid-shot, it really makes viewers nauseous.2. When you shoot your gore effects, do it from about two inches away, and never include a wide shot. Otherwise the audience might be able to figure out what they're looking at.3. Find yourself a screenwriter who has never heard human beings speak. Trust me, it'll pay off.4. If you're making a film about killer clowns, make sure they don't do anything remotely clown-like. I mean, what kind of mileage could you possibly get out of horror gags involving balloon animals, or juggling, or a string of colorful scarves tied together? Can you even imagine a movie about killer clowns, perhaps from outer space, that could pull off such a thing?5. The actor playing your lead villain should be playing a character from a completely different movie. Tell everyone else to play it grounded, but tell that actor to shoot for something between an old Cagney picture and Mark Hamill's Joker.6. Finally, just for fun, have one of your characters be an Elvis impersonator in full costume, and don't pay that off in any way.

A gory good time!
I was lucky enough to watch a screener back in June. I've been a fan of Todd Sheets' work since the early 2010's and this is by far his best work. He keeps getting better and better with each film. The story was fast paced and fun, the practical effects work was gory as hell and the cast did an overall pretty good job. It's rough around the edges in spots but that's something every indie horror film has and you have to look past that and see the true genuine passion and love put into it.For those who are being nasty and rude towards the cast and crew for this...please stop. Learn a thing or two about what it takes to make a horror movie like this on an extremely small budget. You don't have to like the movie but show them some appreciation for trying to make some entertainment for you. Todd has been out there for decades making movies for almost nothing. He's a true horror fan that doesn't let little to no money stop him from showing you his love for the genre. I wish I could have the career he has. A genuine and fantastic human being.

The poor acting is made up for by the poor effects
Seriously the worst movie I’ve ever seen, and I own a copy of The Room.

Skip This Movie
Let me just start by saying that I Hated this movie. Hate with a capital H. It is not a good movie. It is not a bad movie that's so bad it becomes good. This movie feels like a director's attempt at creating an excuse to see breasts. I spent most of the time watching this movie wishing I were watching Cats.I will say that the one sort of positive thing about this movie was some of the special effects. Most of the kills are either done through stabbing or physical damage, cause you know, there's nothing special about clowns that can be turned into a good kill. The actual gore in the movie isn't bad most of the time, although other times it looks like the person in charge of the gore used slime or taffy to make things.I know that some people will say that "this is an indie movie, their budget was tight!" which I get, but when the problems with your movie have nothing to do with the budget then you have a problem. The dialogue for this movie is bottom-rate. When you have one character telling someone "I'll be your Huckleberry" out of nowhere then you know you have an issue. The actors were also an issue. They read their lines like they had just been handed their scripts that morning and didn't have time to read over them. Half of the actors thought they were in a detective noir while the others thought this was a commercial for a local mattress business. A good part of the reason why I can't even justify calling this a horror movie is because the actors don't really treat it like one. There's no long lasting fear or urgency with any of them, they just go back to normal when each scene is over. I know at least a few other reviews praised the fact that a former porn star from the 70s made her acting debut in this movie which....okay, I guess. It seems like such a niche thing for people to pick up on.The plot, if you could call it that, was all over the place. The summary for the movie stated that these killer clowns were trapped in a tornado by a curse, except...they weren't. They were free to move around where ever they wanted and the tornado seemed to just teleport them where ever they wanted to go. The actors go from witnessing a large group of people murdered in one scene to acting like nothing happened in the next. The story just tends to ignore parts of the plot and not answer questions whenever it wants. Why does the lead actress keep coming back to life? Why do guns kill the villains but drops from the sky don't? Why did a dead clown give birth to a smaller clown after she died? Who cares! Clearly not the writers of this movie. Is the cinematography for the movie any good? It is if you love close up shots of actor's faces! It felt like the person filming this whole thing was using the camera to see if the actors had anything up their noses. I understand that close up shots can be used to create a sense of urgency or tightness, but when 90% of your movie is just close ups of faces it just looks like you didn't want the audience seeing where you were filming. Are the villains any good at least? I wish. Despite the bad guys in this movie being a bunch of clowns, the kills are predictable and boring. There's no fun in anything they do. They just pop up, kill some people, and peace out. They're not even the type of villain that are hard to kill. It's shown that they're easily killed by guns, so they go from being unstoppable and crazy killers to just being killers. You could have made them mountain people or mutants or juggalos and it wouldn't have changed a thing. This movie was a bore to watch. I can't justify calling it a thriller or a horror. It was one and a half hours of filmed movement that I highly regret spending my time on.

One of my favorite lower budget flicks !
Very glad I added this one to my collection. Lower budget films are definitely ones that appeal to me and this one is one of my favorites. Evil clown movies grab my attention every time so I had to buy it. If you liked Killer Klowns from Outer Space this one won’t disappoint. John O’ Hara played “Big Ronnie” an evil clown who was out for revenge for his wife’s betrayal. Jeanne Silver of 70’s era adult films made an appearance in this and was a pleasant surprise. Loved both of their performances as well as seeing some local talent utilized. Overall just a fun lower budget film worth watching. Grab a copy !

Not bad.
Not as funny as one would think with a title like Clownado but it was pretty good none the less. Surprisingly good CGI for such a low budget film.
