The Little Gardener

Bought this for my preschooler for Easter since we’ve been working in our own garden lately. The illustrations are lovely and detailed. He is going to be so excited to see that it is a boy gardener. Lovely story and message. The story itself is a bit short, but the book is still amazing.

Cute story about a miniature Gardner that works on his garden day and night but can’t tame it until one day some kids get inspired when they see his garden and decide to take care if it too. They tend tend to the weeds and plant seeds. While he’s asleep they work hard to fix it up and when he wakes up his garden is more beautiful and plentiful than it’s ever been.The illustration is awesome and every spread is full of detail from edge to edge. Full bleed illustration. There’s a lot to see.

Beautiful illustrations and lovely story. Bought it for my neighbor who has a container garden inside because it's so cold here. Seems that seeing gardening in a kid's book might make it more of an normal, every day expectation for everyone. I mean if a kid reads it and sees a plant or two around, there will be much less of a learning curve to having their own garden later in life. Even if it's a pot of basil... and that means there's more local food and that's one tiny step forward.

I really thought it can teach about the life. If you just think this is about Growing things, actually u can also adjust for older kids (if you share with little kids) for meaning of this book.

Bought this book for my little girl foe Christmas after finding a list of books that inspire whimsy. It’s absolutely charming! The illustrations are beautiful, and the wording and overall point of the story are so sweet. Highly recommend! Honestly, I read this one to myself sometimes!

What a wonderful story. My 7 year old niece loves my garden had her own little flower garden this summer. She loves this book and her mom has to read it to her every night!

This is a gorgeously illustrated book that reinforces the value of working hard and persisting even when things don't go your way. I can't wait to talk more about these virtues with my little one as she gets older and I'm happy to have such a wonderful story as an example!

It's quite a leap to say he persisted throughout the story. He slept for a month---then he woke to a beautiful garden. The 'someone' provides very little detail & forces the reader to fill a sizeable storyline gap. It is beautifully illustrated, though. The colors are absolutely gorgeous.

This is such a thoughtful and thought-provoking book, full of insight and sensitivity. My grand-daughter's response to the little gardener of the title was immediate and warmly empathetic.The messages here are so many... hope, hard work, love of beauty, determination, joy, working together, community... All communicated without judgement or moralising... just through witnessing what happens.The Little Gardener is a joy!

So many things to say about this seemingly simple little book. The illustrations are gorgeous with so much detail; my 5 year old loves pointing out that the worm has his own family at the end which is only alluded to in minute detail in the illustrations. The subtle messages about your actions however small, can enormously impact others which can change the whole world. I really is magical and as a parent who reads literally hundreds of books to my child this is one of my personal favourites.

Bought this because I loved Emily Hughes other book Wild. This is quite different but similar in that it takes a character and lets them be. I love how empathetic her books are. And the illustrations are gorgeous. She writes books you can read over and over again.

This book is a beautifully illustrated treasury, with a heartwarming story at the centre of it. Each page is full of intriguing details that reveal something new each time that any young reader will enjoy time after time.

I bought this as a present for my niece. I love the message behind the story. Good quality item. Well illustrated.
